Bijou Phillips is an American actress, musician and model. She is the daughter of John Phillips, founder of The Mamas & the Papas, and the half-sister of actress Mackenzie Phillips.

Phillips was a friend of socialist Casey Johnson, heiress to the Johnson and Johnson fortune, who died suddenly at age 30 on January 4, 2009. Later that week, Johnson's one-time fiancee, Tila Tequila, called authorities to report that Phillips and another of Johnson's socialite friends, Nicky Hilton, were threatening to break in to Johnson's home in order to "rescue" some animals. In September 2009, Mackenzie Phillips came forward with a shocking family secret: Phillips claimed that she'd had an ongoing incestuous relationship with their father many years ago. Bijou Phillips gave a statement saying that she first found out about the alleged relationship when she was 13. Phillips began modeling as a young teenager and has reportedly lived on her own since she was 14 years old. In her teens, she appeared on the cover of Vogue and in 2000, she posed nude for Playboy. A year earlier, she released the post-alternative album I'd Rather Eat Glass. The album, produced by the Talking Heads' Jerry Harrison, attempted to combine Phillips' throaty abrasiveness with a career-evolving sensitivity.

Phillips had small roles in the entertainment industry-themed films Sugar Town and Almost Famous. Her performance in 2001's Bully established her as a successful actress. In the following years, Phillips appeared in The Door in the Floor, Havoc and Eli Roth's Hostel: Part II.

Phillips had a four-year relationship with musician Sean Lennon, son of John Lennon. Lennon ended the relationship after discovering that Phillips was having an alleged affair with his good friend Max LeRoy. LeRoy died in a motorcycle accident in 2005.
