  • Big Wind Day celebrates the record of the strongest wind gust ever recorded. The record breaking gust occurred on the top of Mount Washington during a spring storm, at precisely 1:21 pm on April 12, 1934, a wind gust of 231 miles per hour was recorded. The only challenge to this record was the 1997 Typhoon Paka in Guam, but as of this date Mt. Washington still holds the record.
