History
In 1989, George F. Sasser implemented its public relations and programs and introduced its first men's basketball television package, having the Big South competing among some of the finest teams in the nation.Winthrop Eagles is the 2007-2008 Conference Tournament Champions. They have four straight conference tournament championships from 2004 up to 2008. Torrell Martin is the two time MVP in 2004 to 2006 season, Craig Bradshaw in 2006-07, and Michael Jenkins in 2007-2008 season MVP for the Winthrop Eagles.
