  • Plot

Adam Sandler stars as Sonny Koufax, a New York City man who works just one day a week in a toll booth and living off of an injury settlement he received. His girlfriend, played by Kristy Swanson, leaves him as she is looking for someone more responsible. The same day his roommate Kevin Gerrity, played by Jon Stewart, leaves for a job in China, a five year old boy is dropped off at their apartment. A note with the child claims that he is Gerrity's son and needs someone to take care of him. Koufax decides to raise the child, hoping that taking the responsibility will get his girlfriend back. Although his girlfriend is not impressed and has already found another man, Koufax keeps the child. Koufax wants to be more of a friend than an authoritative figure for the boy and allows the kid to make his own choices, like what clothes he wears and what he wants his name to be.
