Big Brother 12 was the twelfth season of the CBS reality show Big Brother. The season concluded on September 15, 2010, with the final portion of the last Head of Household competition, which was won by Hayden Moss. He selected Lane Elenburg to sit beside him in the final two, opting to evict Enzo Palumbo. Moss won the season, receiving the grand prize of $500,000. Lane Elenburg took home the runner-up prize of $50,000 while Britney Haynes won the $25,000 America's vote prize.
In total, 13 contestants competed against each other for the grand prize of $500,000. During season premiere on July 8, 2010, one big twist of the season was announced, the addition of a "saboteur" in the house. The goal of the saboteur was to prank and torment the houseguests and evade eviction for two weeks to win a $20,000 prize.
Big Brother Background
In Big Brother, contestants are placed in a house with no outside contact with the world, including Internet, phones and written material. Once there, they take place in weekly challenges and vote each other off until two people remain. Of those two people, the previously evicted houseguests vote for the winner of the cash prize.
Julie Chen hosts the show which airs on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific time. Also, every evening on Showtime 2, a special live viewing, Big Brother After Dark airs. For those who want full access to the house, viewers can purchase a subscription through Real Player and view the house whenever they wish, barring blackouts while the contestants play games.

How to Be a Contestant on Big Brother
Casting director Robyn Kass explains in this video what it takes to get on Big Brother. She explains that all contestants must be 21 years are over. She cautions against using splashy graphics, instead asks interested parties to show off their personalities. Kass explains that every single tape is viewed and encourages people to take their time on their application, tell stories, use the back of the application if needed. At open calls, dress to impress and wear something that represents your personal style.
