At the conclusion of the college football regular season, the top teams in the North and South divisions of the Big 12 Conference play to determine an overall conference champion. In 2009, the game will be played on December 5, 2009, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Following the end of the regular season for Big 12 teams, there was a three-way tie in the South division, with Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech all finishing with a 7-1 conference record.
