  • The Bichon Frise originated in the Mediterranean, a descendant of the poodle. They spread throughout Europe quickly during the Renaissance based on their small size and cheerful disposition. The breed first appeared in the United States in 1955 and the first original litter was born in 1956.
  • Bichon Frise Grooming

The Bichon Frise does not shed and its wiry coat must be groomed often. Their hair can be so thick that dirty often gets caught around their eyes, mouth and anus. The breed is also particularly allergy prone, thus frequent upkeep is important.
  • Well-tempered

The Bichon Frise is playful and tends to get along well with children. Their lower jaw is strong, however, so puppies should still be adequately trained. Their eyes are dark, which gives them an inquisitive countenance.
