Pakistani politician Benazir Bhutto died after being injured during a suicide bomb attack at a rally on December 27, 2007. The official cause of her death became a point of contention between the Pakistani government of Pervez Musharraf and Bhutto's Pakistani People's Party (PPP).
Conflicting Opinions
Initial reports from Pakistani officials stated that Benazir Bhutto died due to a skull fracture she sustained after hitting her head on the sunroof of her car. On February 8, 2008, representatives from Scotland Yard reported that they had come to the same conclusion after examining the evidence. The PPP maintains that Bhutto was shot and asked the United Nations to conduct their own investigation into her death.
