Bhutto Assassinated

Pakistani politician and former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto died after being injured during a suicide bomb attack on December 27, 2007. On February 8, 2008, Scotland Yard issued a report agreeing with Pakistani investigators that Bhutto's death was a result of a bomb blast.

Members of Benazir Bhutto's Pakistan People's Party (PPP) disagreed with the official reports of the cause of death, insisting that she was shot by an assassin. Several PPP members accused the government of covering up the official cause of death. They cite photographs taken during the rally, which show a gunman apparently taking aim at Bhutto, as evidence that she was shot.
