The "bg" in bgC3 stands for Bill Gates, and the "C" stands for "catalyst," the role Gates plans to play as he brings together people and ideas. The "3" represents bgC3 as the third business venture for Bill Gates, after Microsoft and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
