Beyond Good & Evil HD is a one-player action/adventure game that can be purchased through the Xbox Live Arcade for the Xbox 360.  It is a high definition port of the original cult classic that was released in 2003 for home consoles and PC.  

In Beyond Good & Evil the player takes control of female protagonist Jade, who is both an investigative journalist and a martial artist.  The sci fi advetnure takes place in the year 2435 on the mining planet Hillys.  Jade spends her time taking care of orphans who lost their parents to the DomZ - a race of aliens that are attacking the planet.  She eventually gets in contact with the IRIS Network who believes that the resident military dictatorship, the Alpha Sections, are in cahoots with the alien invaders.  It is up to the player to figure out just what is going on and maybe even save a world or two.  

The game plays very similarly to other action/adventure like The Legend of Zelda series.  In BG&E the player has a great world to explore filled with monsters to defeat, items to collect, and puzzles to solve.

Because there are so many things to do, controling Jade can take a little bit of patience, but here are the basics:

Press the 'x' button to attack

Press the 'x' button to take items

Press the 'a' button to dodge and jump

Press the 'b' button to eat starkos and recover energy

Press 'LB' to get your camera out

Press 'RB' to take a picture

Press 'RT' to run and speed up in your hovercraft

Press 'LT' to crouch

In this walkthrough, Mahalo will help you dominate Beyond Good & Evil HD.  

In the opening cinematics the player is introduced to all of the main players in BG&E's narrative.  The Alpha Sections promise the Hillyans that they will take care of them.  Then as soon as the player is introduced to Jade, the DomZ are attacking. She immediately tries to shield her little enclave, but is thwarted by the fact that she has neglected to pay her bills. 

Make short work out of the invaders with your flaming staff by rocking out combos with the 'x' button.  Keep jamming on the button and you will be rewarded by seeing some pretty cool combos.  Also try dodging by pressing the 'a' button just to get used to that aspect of the gameplay.  These guys should be pretty easily decimated.

After finishing off the first wave of the Domz, Jade is then grabbed by a giant alien and taken underground where she nearly passes out before being saved by her "uncle" Peyj.  

You are first stuck in the clutches of the invader and need to hold down the 'x' button to mount a more powerful attack.  Immediately start attacking the guy's giant eye.  When he starts to shoot his laser beam run to the opposite side of the screen.  Following that the player will have to fight off some of the main boss' minions; make quick work of them by smashing on the 'x' button.  After finishing them off the boss' 'talons' will come up from the ground, so attack them and as soon as you can go back to attacking the eyeball of the main boss until he tries to blast you with his eye laser again.  Keep going through the same routine until the alien beast has been defeated.  

After he has been defeated go ahead and pick up the glowing blue orb which is a pearl - you will use these to purchase additions to your hovercraft at the Mammago Garage.  

Then the Apha Sections arrive...just in time?

Now make it back topside.  When Jade gets out of the pit she is immediately questioned by a pro-Alpha Sections news agency and passes out.  

When Jade is awoken she is offered a job for the Science Center which will pay you money for taking pictures of animals that you find in the game world.  Go ahead and grab your camera by walking towards it and pressing the 'x' button.

Then press 'LB' to get out your camera and aim/zoom with the control sticks at the bug on the barrel.  When the shot is aligned press 'RB' to take the picture.  You have taken a picture of the Adalia Octopunctata!  The Science Center will give you 150 units for this shot.

Also take a picture of the child in the same room.  Your picture of Homo Sapiens will land you 200 units from the Science Center.  Now that you have 350 units Optima will be paid - this means that the shield is now functional and all electricity is restored.  

Right behind Jade there is a yellow starkos - pick it up by getting close to it and pressing the 'x' button.  There are more starkos in the thing that looks like a refridgerator that is close by.  You can also kick open the furnace to find another one.  

Now lets go upstairs and check a few things out.  In the room to the right there is a child sitting on the ground who you should take a picture of.  For the picture of Capra Sapiens the Science Center will give you 350 units.  

Then press the 'x' button to open the door of the adjacent room that looks like a sauna.  In here you will find an 'active principle' which will increase your energy by one heart.  Hang a right after leaving the sauna and take a pciture of Canis Canis...the Science Center will then give you 100 units. 

If you then take a right there is a starkos in a corner that can be grabbed.  Return to the main room on the floor and press the 'x' button to open up the door that hasn't been opened yet and follow the path to the roof.  

There is a goofy looking chick way on the top, but a good shot cannot be taken with the camera yet - don't forget about him.  Now return to the ground level and leave the building.  

After leaving the building look a little bit to your right and you will see a little orange guy in the grass.  Take a picture of Priodontes Campestris and the Science Center will reward you with 150 units.  If you run over to a ledge try to get a picture of the birds.  A good picture of Larus Albus will get you 400 units.  

Now enter the building with the flashing lights and follow it to Peyj's workshop.  After talking to Peyj, go grab the MDisk, save your game, and then play the MDisk to get the scoop on your first real objective.

After hearing about your objective follow Peyj down to where the hovercraft is, so that you can starting making your way to Black Isle!

Down on the table by the hovercraft are a variety of items that will help you out:  boost capsules that will temporarily make your hovercraft go 3x faster and items that will repair your hovercraft.  Then, with the help of Peyj, move the genorator to the end of the dock by moving the control stick forward.  Now you are ready to get in your hovercraft and start making your way towards Mammago Garage.

Moving the hovercraft involves nothing more than moving the right control stick.  You can also press the 'y' button to help you navigate.  When you are half way towards Mammago's the hovercraft will crap out and you will be tugged to the Mammago Garage.  

When you have arrived go ahead and take a picture of the guy behind the counter; this picture of Rhinoceros Sapiens will land you 300 units from the Science Center.  Also take a picture of Peyj if you haven't already and then you will get 600 units - by now you should have used up a full roll of film and gotten the new zoom feature.  

Now go into the store and pick up a new motor for one pearl.  You are now ready to get into your fully functioning hovercraft.  

As soon as you get out of the garage the DomZ will mount yet another attack.  Follow the giant monster in your hovercraft by holding down the 'RT' button.  Smash the 'x' button while you are behind the monster to take him out.  As soon as he is decimated you can grab another pearl.  

After you grab a pearl a school of scorpion fish will be around the hovercraft; take a picture of them and get 300 units.  Then press the 'y' button and set your sights on Black Isle.  You will go through the main canal that runs through a mountain and make it there in no time.
