Beverly Hills Cop is a 1984 film directed by Martin Brest. The film stars Eddie Murphy as Detective Axel Foley, a reckless but talented policemen. The film follows Foley as he travels to Beverly Hills to investigate the killing of his ex-con best friend Mikey Tandino (James Russo). It was followed by a sequel, Beverly Hills Cop II, in 1987.
