Beverly Cleary is an American children's author and creator of the popular character Ramona Quimby series, The Mouse and the Motorcycle and more.
Career
As a child, Cleary was unsatisfied with books she read, as they had nothing in common with her. After attending the University of California at Berkeley and graduating from the University of Washington she worked as a librarian. While working she discovered that many children had the same frustrations she had a as a child, and wrote her first book Henry Huggins. While working on the Huggins series she developed her famous characters Ramona and Beezus.
