Betty Wright was co-pastor of Grace Tabernacle Christian Center in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn, New York, along with her husband, the gospel singer Reverend Timothy Wright.

Betty Wright died on July 5, 2008, in an auto accident. Timothy Wright was hospitalized in the months following the crash and died on April 23, 2009

Betty Wright was killed in a car accident on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania on July 5, 2008. A car driven by John Pick of Lewisburg on the wrong side of the interstate hit a car containing Betty Wright, Timothy Wright, and the couple's 14-year old grandson D.J. Wright. D.J. Wright also died in the crash.

Timothy Wright spent several months after the crash in the hospital trying to recover from his injuries. He died on April 23, 2009, at the age of 61.
