Beth Smith

Beth Smith, the wife of professional golfer Chris Smith, was killed in a car accident near Angola, Indiana, on Sunday, June 21, 2009. Authorities say Mrs. Smith died when her SUV collided with a Greyhound bus on Interstate 69. The couple's two children, Abigail and Cameron Smith, were critically injured in the crash.

The Accident

According to reports, Beth Smith's sport utility vehicle slammed into a Greyhound bus carrying members of the London Silverbacks, a Canadian semipro football team. Smith had reportedly blown a tire just before she slammed head-on into the bus. Members of the Silverbacks pulled Smith's two children from the wreckage. Team owner Al Lazar was one of more than a dozen people injured in the crash; he was said to be in "critical but stable condition" on Monday, June 22, 2009.The Canadian Press: Football players involved in Indiana bus crash back home in London, Ont.
