  • Slumdog Millionaire received the Oscar for Best Sound Mixing on February 22, 2009 at the Academy Awards. The other nominees for the honor included teams from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, Wall-E, and Wanted.
  • Benjamin Button

    The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is an adaptation of a short story by author F. Scott Fitzgerald. It stars Brad Pitt as the title character. Button is a man who is born as an old man. Throughout the story he ages backwards. During his adventures he meets a young woman (played by Cate Blanchett as an adult and Elle Fanning as a child) and falls in love. Time, space, war and circumstance keep the couple apart for most of the film although they occasionally meet for brief interludes. Button continues to age backward while Blanchett's character, Daisy, matures normally.

  • The Dark Knight

    The Dark Knight is an installment of the Batman series. Christian Bale stars as Bruce Way/Batman. In the film, Gotham City is under attack from a criminal mastermind who calls himself The Joker (played by Heath Ledger). Ledger died before the release of the film, on January 22, 2008.

  • Slumdog Millionaire

    Slumdog Millionaire stars Dev Patel as a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. As he answers each question correctly, the film flashes back to moment in his life where he learned the answer. Through these flashbacks, the movie follows the characters traumatic childhood, his relationship with his brother and the beginning of his infatuation with the girl of his dreams.

  • Wall-E

    The Pixar movie Wall-E chronicles the adventures of the last robot left on Earth. The human race left the planet after years of misuse and environmental devastation. Wall-E was originally meant to gather and compact trash. After years of being alone on the planet, one day he meets another robot named EVE. Her job is to check for signs of life on Earth. The two become fast friends and Wall-E joins EVE when she returns to her spaceship. Their relationship begins to go awry once the humans find out there might be life on their home planet.

  • Wanted

    Based on comic book, Wanted follows twenty-something Wesley Gibson (played by James McAvoy) as he joins an elite group of murders and assassins. He is initiated by a woman named Fox (played by Angelina Jolie). Their training regimen includes intense physical preparation and learning to control bullets. Gibson goes on a hunt to avenge his father's death and ends up putting himself in peril.
