The Academy Awards for Best Score awards the film's composer for music written specifically for the movie. It is one of two awards for film music; the other one is the Academy Award for best song. A.R. Rahman of Slumdog Millionaire was the winner of the 2009 Academy Award for Best Score, announced at the Academy Awards Ceremony on February 22, 2009. Other nominees were the original scores of the movies The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Defiance, Milk, and Wall-E.
