Best PS3 Games Review Highlights

  1. Mahalo's Guide to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
      • IGN: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 9.2
      • Over the past year, you've probably already heard how great The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is from PC and Xbox 360 owners, and it maintains that same pedigree on PlayStation 3.
      • Gamespot: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Review 9.5
      • The PlayStation 3 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is every bit as impressive as the Xbox 360 and PC versions. However, this isn't necessarily the best version of the game.
      • 1UP: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Review 9.5
      • But the version sitting on store shelves right now is inferior to its brethren on other platforms. So I can really only recommend it if you don't own a 360 or a PC capable of running the game well.
  2. Mahalo's Guide to Rock Band
      • IGN: Rock Band: Special Edition Review 9.4
      • Rock Band is a great game. The presentation elements are top-notch and take music games to a new level; consider the bar raised.
      • Gamespot: Rock Band Review 9.0
      • All told, Rock Band turns in an absolutely stellar performance. And much like any real band worth its salt, it's not just because of one or two things that it does well while the rest fall by the wayside.
  3. Mahalo's Guide to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
      • IGN: Call of Duty 4: 9.4The quality of the content in the campaign is totally top-shelf, and the multiplayer is some of the best around, making this a truly superb package.
      • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a fantastic game. The single-player experience is easily Infinity Ward's best work to date. Calling it intense may be an understatement.
      • Gamespot: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 9.0
      • The quality of the content in the campaign is totally top-shelf, and the multiplayer is some of the best around, making this a truly superb package.
      • 1UP: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Review 9.5
      • With proven mechanics, brilliant visuals and sound, a satisfying campaign, and robust multiplayer, COD4 is one of the best FPS packages of the year -- no small feat, considering the competition.
  4. Mahalo's Guide to Ninja Gaiden Sigma
      • IGN: Ninja Gaiden Sigma 9.3'
      • Though its core gameplay and content is more than three years old, Ninja Gaiden Sigma is just as fun as the original release. Many of the new content additions and tweaks have been added for the betterment of the experience, making this clearly the best of the bunch.
      • Gamespot: Ninja Gaiden Sigma Review 9.0
      • Whether you're a series veteran or a newcomer, the in-your-face action of Ninja Gaiden Sigma is as exhilarating now as it ever was, and the new, slickly embedded content is surprisingly meaty. Play this game.
      • 1UP: Ninja Gaiden Sigma 9
      • So even though genuinely new content doesn't exactly abound, Sigma remains such a solid, expansive, challenging, and well-paced thrill ride that you truly won't care.
  5. Mahalo's Guide to The Darkness
      • IGN: The Darkness Review 7.7
      • The Darkness is a wonderfully gruesome adventure. There are some truly dark and even shocking moments in the story.
      • Gamespot: The Darkness Review 8.5
      • If you're a sucker for M-rated action--and really, how can you pass on a game with a human-heart-eating mechanic?--you'll definitely want to play The Darkness.
      • 1UP: The Darkness Review 9
      • It doesn't quite have Riddick's pacing, due to the open city that asks you to find your own way through, but it presents a better feeling of accomplishment and familiarity by the end.
  6. Mahalo's Guide to Warhawk
      • IGN: Warhawk Review 8.8
      • It may be multiplayer only, it may not have bots, and it may have a steep learning curve, but Warhawk lives up to its billing: a AAA experience that is an adrenaline rush for online fans.
      • Gamespot: Warhawk Review 8.5
      • Regardless of how you get it, Warhawk is a great multiplayer shooter and one of the first of its kind to land on the still-new PlayStation 3.
      • 1UP: Warhawk Review 8.5
      • Otherwise...look, understand that Warhawk is engaging, addictive, reasonably long-lasting fun. It's just not quite $40 worth.
  7. Mahalo's Guide to Skate
      • IGN: Skate Review 8.8
      • as a brand new IP, based on an idea that could have completely blown up in EA's face, skate is an amazingly complete experience.
      • Gamespot: Skate Review 7.0
      • While Skate has a handful of issues that hold it back, it has a ton of potential. It's a solid first start for what hopefully will become a regular franchise.
      • 1UP: Skate Review 9
      • The difficultly will undoubtedly polarize, but as something wholly new and unique, Skate is more than welcome.
