Best in Show

  • Best in Show is mockumentary directed by Christopher Guest and co-written by Guest and Eugene Levy. Released in 2000, the film follows a group of five dog owners and handlers through a prestigious and fictional dog show. The film is driven by the surreal relationships between the owners and their dogs, as well as the bizarre interactions between competitors. Like many of Guest's other films, Best in Show portrays a small, fictionalized, subculture wholly obsessed with its own intricacies. In keeping with Guest's well established style, much of the dialog in the movie was improvised and the film made use of a stock company of performers. The film was nominated for several awards and grossed $18,621,249 in the U.S. box office.
