• Golf is said to have originated in Scotland, and some of the best and oldest courses are located there. The Old Course at St. Andrews Links is one of the oldest in the world. Tiger Woods has said, "it's my favorite course in the world," and Jack Nicklaus "fell in love with it the first day [he] played it."

  In Ireland there are many golf resorts that are well-rated and worth a visit. Dromoland Castle is not only a beautiful place to stay, but guests also have access to the Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club, which is "the most modern golf practice facilities in Ireland."

  The U.S. also has some top-rated courses and resorts.The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia is where you can play on the Greenbrier Course, which was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1977. They hosted the Ryder Cup Matches in 1979 and the Solheim Cup Matches in 1994, making it the only resort course in the world to host both.

  Hawaii is home to many acclaimed golf resorts, three of them being Four Seasons Resorts & Spas. On the island of Lana'i, the Four Seasons, The Lodge at Koele and the Four Seasons Manele Bay both offer access to The Challenge at Manele and The Experience at Koele courses. The Four Seasons Hualalai at Historic Ka'upulehu is the site of the Jack Nicklaus signature Hualalai Golf Course, which is over 7,000 yards of course that ends at the ocean.
