Best Fictional Brands

  • Brands can impact a company's profitability and success as much as the products they produce or the services they provide. (We don't throw that Mahalo flower on every page just because it's pretty...)

So ubiquitous are brand images - from hip-hop songs to street corners to movies to Internet advertising - we internalize them without even noticing, creating unconscious associations completely outside of our control. Like the kids whose perception of taste changes when they see a McDonald's wrapper, we're all helpless in the face of marketing savvy.

This list is dedicated not to the real-life brands whose images stare back at us from our favorite magazines and websites every day, but to the imaginary ones that populate our favorite films and TV shows. If Mahalo existed in an alternate reality (and let's be honest...it very well might), these would be our corporate sponsors.

  • Fast Facts:

    2. Producer J.J. Abrams features the "Slusho" beverage brand in both Alias and Cloverfield
    3. Simpsons brands not featured on this list: Buzz Cola, Kwik-E-Mart, "Lil' Bastard" kits, Laramie Cigarettes, the Canyonero, Malaria Zone, the French Confection, Repo Depot, Krusty the Klown products, the Texas Cheesecake Depository
    4. Seinfeld tended to feature real brands, including J. Peterman, Kenny Rogers' Roasters, Nicole Miller and Drake's Coffee Cake
