The 82nd Academy Awards aired on March 7th, 2010. They were held at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood California. Kathryn Bigelow won the Oscar for Best Director for the film The Hurt Locker which takes place during the Iraq war. A Sergeant carries out the brave act of defusing a bomb. The Hurt Locker, an Iraq War drama, was the top winner at the 2010 Oscars, taking home 6 awards, including Best Picture. Bigelow became the first woman to ever win this award.
