Lady Antebellum — Best Country Album 2011 Winner
Pop country group Lady Antebellum won the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Country Album for their 2010 album, Need You Now. It was their third Grammy win of the night, and they later went on to win the Song of the Year award as well. In their acceptance speech, they thanked a number of colleagues, along with fans and God.
Eminem had been a favorite in the Song category for his collaboration with Rihanna, "Love the Way You Lie." Some critics, including Todd Martens of the LA Times, disagreed with the Best Country Album award going to Lady Antebellum, arguing that they are more of a pop band with country instruments thrown in than an authentic country music group.http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/02/grammy-awards-in-the-world-of-country-album-winners-lady-antebellum-all-songs-lead-to-need-you-now.html
Other nominees had included Dierks Bentley, Zac Brown Band, Jamey Johnson and Miranda Lambert.
Earlier in the evening, Lady Antebellum had performed in a tribute to late R&B legend Teddy Pendergrass before seguing into their own songs, "American Honey" and "Need You Now." They had previously performed "Need You Now" on the 2010 Grammy Awards.
