Best Buy HD DVD Gift Cards

    • Cards to be distributed by mail starting on May 1, 2008
    • Customers eligible for the cards will be identified be Best Buy through the retailer's membership program, online purchases and service plans
    • Customers with proof of purchase through a credit card or Best Buy receipt can request a gift card by calling 888.BEST.BUY
    • Visitors to the online trade-in center will receive an estimate and downloadable prepaid label to return their goods in exchange for an additional gift certificate.
    • Program will cost Best Buy approximately $10 million
  • Best Buy will issue $50 gift cards to customers who purchased HD-DVD players from the retailer prior to February 23, 2008.

    On February 19, 2008, Toshiba abandoned the HD-DVD player, thus ending the "format war" between HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.
