  • Private Bowe R. Bergdahl of the U.S. Army's 1st Battalion's 501 Parachute Infantry Regiment was captured in Afghanistan on June 30, 2009, by the Taliban. On July 19, 2009, the Taliban released a video Bergdahl. The video was recorded on July 14, 2009. Bergdahl can be seen wearing a blue Afghan tunic and pants.

    Bergdahl states his identity in the video and explains that he was behind his patrol at the time he was captured.
