Benjamin LeBaron was an anti-crime protest leader and activist. He was a US citizen and was slayed in Mexico on July 7, 2009 after speaking out against the recent kidnapping of his brother, Eric, who was held for a $1 million ransom.

LeBaron and another man were found dead in Galeana, Mexico, after they were kidnapped by gunmen. A message left by the bodies said that the two had been killed as a retribution for the arrest of 25 drug suspects in a town close to Galeana a few days earlier. The arrests were reportedly a result of an anonymous tip. LeBaron's brother Eric was kidnapped earlier in the year. The family reportedly did not pay the ransom, but he was still released.
