• Benicio Del Toro is a Puerto Rico-born actor and producer. He stars in the films Sin City, Traffic, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and 21 Grams. Del Toro has the lead role of Che Guevara in the Steven Soderbergh two-film series Che.

  Del Toro is allegedly being pursued by directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly to star as Moe Howard in their forthcoming film adaptation of The Three Stooges. Jim Carrey has already been cast as Howard's brother, Jerome "Curly" Howard, a role for which the lanky actor will have to gain 40 pounds. • Life and Career

  Benicio Del Toro was born in Puerto Rico but moved to Pennsylvania at the age of thirteen. His parents were lawyers, and his mother died from hepatitis when he was nine.

  After high school, Del Toro went to the University of California, San Diego to study business, but soon dropped out to pursue acting. He trained under Stella Adler and learned acting techniques at the Circle in the Square Theater School.

  Del Toro began acting with small parts on TV and in films, but his big break came when he starred in The Usual Suspects. The recognition from this film led to bigger parts, and his performance in Steven Soderbergh's film Traffic in (2000) earned him an Oscar for "Best Actor." Del Toro has starred in major Hollywood films since then, most notably in Sin City, Things We Lost in the Fire, The Argentine, Guerrilla and The Wolf Man.
