Major League Baseball pitcher Ben Sheets]currently plays for the Milwaukee Brewers.
MLB Career
Prior to his MLB career, Sheets played baseball at Northeast Louisiana University. He was then drafted on June 2, 1999 by the Milwaukee Brewers. The following year, Sheets joined Team U.S.A in the 2000 Summer Olympics, winning the gold medal in baseball.
Sheets spent his first couple seasons with the Brewers' minor league affiliates, before he was called up to make his MLB debut on April 5, 2001. He played 25 games that season with the Brewers, pitching 151.3 innings and finishing with a 4.76 earned runs average. He was also selected for his first MLB All-Star Game that same year.
Starting in 2002, Sheets earned a full roster spot with the Brewers, playing 34 games each season over the next three years. In 2004 he earned his second All-Star game selection and was also nominated for the Cy Young Award.
