• Ben Kingsley is a British actor. He was born on December 31, 1943 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England. Kingsley's mother, Anna Lyna Mary, is an actress and his father, Rahimtulla Harji Bhanji, is a physician. Kingsley was raised in Pendlebury, Salford. He attended the University of Salford and Pendleton College. Kingsley married actress Angela Morant in 1966. They had two children together, Thomas Bhanji and Jasmin Bhanji. They divorced in 1972. In 1978, the actor married director Alison Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe and Kingsley had two children together, Edmund Kingsley and Ferdinand Kingsley. Edmund and Ferdinand are both actors. Kingsley and Sutcliffe divorced four years after they married in 1992. In 2003, Kingsley married again to Alexandra Christmann but divorced two years later as the result of alleged pictures that surfaced of her kissing another man. On September 3, 2007, the actor married actress Daniela Barbosa de Carneiro. Kingsley currently lives in Spelsbury, England.

• Acting Career

  Kingsley made his film debut in 1972 with Fear Is the Key. He became famous ten years later with the film Gandhi for which he won an Academy Award. From there, he played in the films Harem, Maurice, Without a Clue, Bugsy and Searching for Bobby Fischer. His more recent works include Rules of Engagement, Tuck Everlasting, Oliver Twist, The Sopranos, and The Last Legion.
