Ben and Jerry's History
The famous ice cream company began in 1978, when Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield set up their first ice cream shoppe in a run down gas station in Burlington, Vermont. The duo borrowed $4,000 and used $8,000 of their own money to get started and set out to create the best tasting ice cream possible. From the very beginning, the company was committed to environmental action, using recycled, refurbished, and reused materials to remodel the run down gas station and turn it into a modern-day ice cream parlor.
Ben and Jerry's Eco Activism
Ben and Jerry's ice cream is some of the most popular ice cream in the US. There are a variety of interesting flavors and the smaller packaging allows people to try just about every flavor there is. The Ben and Jerry's experiment sought to create a different flavor of ice cream for nearly every meal, and they led the revolution of corporate responsibility in terms of helping the environment.
