The Belleville Bulls are a junior hockey team that plays in the Ontario Hockey League in Canada. The Bulls, as a junior hockey team, do not pay their players like professionals. Instead, the best players from Belleville play on the team to give themselves the opportunity to advance to playing in the National Hockey League.
Belleville began play in the league during the 1981-82 season under head coach Larry Mavety. In their team's history, they have reached the OHL championship twice. 2009-10 Season
The Belleville Bulls finished the 2009-10 in last place in the OHL's East Division. The Bulls record was 20-40-2-6, translating into 48 points in the standings, the second fewest in the entire league. Shawn Lalonde led Belleville in scoring in 2009-10. He would score 13 goals, but his 43 assists helped him compile a team-leading 56 points. Luke Judson was the top goal scorer for the Bulls, netting 29 goals to go with 15 assists on the year. In the net, Philipp Grubauer finished with a 10-14-5 record for Belleville. Belleville Bulls 2009 Playoff Preview
In 2009, the Belleville Bulls qualified for the playoffs following a late season victory in a 3-2 win over the Barrie Colts. The Bulls, who had gotten to the championship series in 2008, were looking to do the same entering the 2009 playoffs. Despite finishing the season with the Eastern Conference's best record, the Bulls were upset in the playoffs.
