  Bella was baffled by Edward's reaction towards her, but it didn't stop her from thinking he was "beautiful." Even though Edward made it obvious to Bella that she should stay away from him, she did not heed his warning. Edward eventually stopped fighting his feelings towards Bella.   Edward and Bella's relationship progressed to the point that she asked him to turn her a vampire, but he steadfastly refused because he didn't want her to live the life he was living. • Bella's Relationship with Jacob Black

  When Bella was a child, her family used to fish with Jacob Black's family. The two of them reconnected when she moved back to Forks. They became friends, but it wasn't until New Moon that Jacob developed a more prominent place in Bella's life. He became her lifeline after Edward moved away.
