Research suggests that the methane gas emitted from a herd of cows is as damaging to the environment as a family car. When cows belch, they emit a methane gas that is believed to be as damaging, if not more damaging, than the carbon dioxide emitted from a car's exhaust. A herd of 200 cows can produce roughly the same amount of methane as a car that's traveled 100,000 miles.
