Behzad Zaman

  • English language school operator Behzad "Ben" Zaman, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Iran, was on April 9, 2008, with seven counts of fraud and misuse of visa, one count of conspiring to money launder and six counts of concealment for money laundering. Zaman is accused of using his two Beverly Hills English language schools as a front for an illegal scheme that gave fraudulent visa's to foreign nationals, including alleged Russian prostitutes. Legitimate students:

    1. U.S. Immigration spokeswoman said there were legitimate students who attended the school
    2. Zaman allegedly charged "tuition" to "students" who were not on enrollment books, and did not attend class
    3. Indictment cited over $320,000 in illegal activities
    4. Some students were ineligible for visas
    5. Search warrant affidavit: Russian and Latvian women posing as students
