The reality show Beauty and the Geek pairs attractive women with "geeky" men to compete for a cash prize. The self proclaimed "social experiment" was created by Ashton Kutcher and first debuted in 2005. It was canceled in May, 2008.
Structure
Each season an equal number of beautiful, yet not so brainy women and smart, yet not so suave men are brought into a mansion to all live together and compete for the $250,000 grand prize. Each beauty is paired with a geek and they compete as pairs throughout the competition. Each week the beauties and geeks are given material to study, then later compete individually based on the material. Beauties learn and are tested in things out of their comfort zone, such as plumbing, construction, auto repair and even rocket science. The geeks are also challenged in areas outside of their expertise such as collecting phone numbers, massage, bartending and salsa dancing. Following each week's competitions, two losing teams face off in an elimination, a test of the week's materials, to send one team home.
