BearShare.com is the official website of the free peer-to-peer file sharing program BearShare. On the site, visitors are able to download the program in a variety of different languages. The newest version of BearShare, Version 8.0, includes iPod support and unlimited downloads.
History
The site was launched in 2000, after the success of similar file sharing sites, such as Napster. Like these sites, BearShare has seen its fair share of legal issues due to its peer-to-peer file sharing. In 2006, BearShare's parent company Free Peers, was ordered to pay $30M in a settlement with the RIAA and transfer all assets to MusicLab LLC.
Community and Culture
In addition to file sharing, BearShare also gives users the ability to connect with others via profiles, photos, and music libraries. http://www.bearshare.com/
