With the changing times, he changed the name to reflect inflation to "The Five Dollar Limit" in 1918. It retained that name until 1946. That was the year Bill Jr joined his father's company, and it became known as "Beall's Department Store". While vacationing in North Carolina, E.R. Beall became very interested in the outlet stores in the area. In 1987 he created the first "Beall's Outlet Store".
