In 1997, commissioners of each conference began discussing the possibility of bringing four bowl games together to determine the top two teams in the nation. The Big Ten and Pac-10 conferences were brought on board first and the BCS was created.BCS Formula
In the current BCS ranking formula, each week, the Harris Interactive College Football Poll and USA Today Coaches Poll are averaged with six computer rankings to determine the top 25 teams.BCS Title Game
After the final BCS rankings are released at the end of the college football season, the top two teams are invited to the BCS Championship Game. The championship game is rotated between four locations each year. These include the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl and Sugar Bowl.-
