About This Page
This page contains a full text and video walkthrough for the stylish action game, Bayonetta. The game was developed by Platinum Games, published by Sega, and was released for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 gaming consoles on January 5, 2010. Included in the walkthrough are step by step instructions for getting through all of the game's 17 chapters, tips on defeating the many bosses, and locations for all of the hidden LP's, Broken Witch Hearts, and Broken Moon Pearls.
The game is directed by Hideki Kamiya, who was also the man behind games such as Devil May Cry, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe. As such, Bayonetta shares several similarities to all three of those games, featuring the fast paced and dynamic action of Devil May Cry, the slow motion combat of Viewtiful Joe, and several visual effects inspired by Okami.
Reviews for Bayonetta have been mostly very favorable, with the Xbox 360 version garnering a review average of 91|http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/bayonetta and the PS3 version an average of 87 http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/bayonetta. The PS3 version suffers from a variety of technical issues including long load times, screen tearing, and slowdown during intense combat sequences.

General Tips
Witch Time
- Witch time is the single most important aspect to Bayonetta's combat system, and as such, it is vital for the player to master its usage.
- Witch time is triggered when you press the dodge button (RT) right before an enemy's attack is about to strike you. Doing so will slow down time for everyone but Bayonetta, allowing her to quickly execute powerful combos without fear of retaliation until witch time ends.
- Mastering the timing of when to dodge to activate witch time is something that will come with practice and experience, but you must always pay careful attention to the enemies around you and see when they telegraph their attack.
- Note that all enemy strikes are generally telegraphed by a golden flash on their weapon, but this doesn't mean that you should start dodging when you see the flash. Learn your enemies' attacks so that you'll know how long you have to wait after the flash before you're supposed to dodge.
Torture Attacks:
- By dealing damage and executing combos, Bayonetta will start to build up her magic meter. Once the meter is full, she'll be able to execute a torture attack on any type of enemy by getting close to them and pressing Y and B at the same time.
- Once a torture attack has been initiated, it will prompt you to press a button repeatedly to rack up "Megatons", which will then become Halos.
- On small to medium sized enemies, torture attacks will generally result in a one hit kill, which is why you should generally save your attack for a big and tough to kill enemy rather than just burning your magic meter away on a standard angel.
- Getting hit will drastically drain your magic meter, so always keep a defensive eye out for enemies that are about to strike.
Combos:
- While one look at the loading screen of Bayonetta may seem overwhelming with the amount of combos that she can perform, it's really not all that complicated.
- One of the most useful combos in the game is also one of the simplest. The Y B Y combo is quick, damaging, and uses a wicked weave that homes in on your enemies. Whenever you need to deal some quick damage, or you need to squeeze in an extra combo before Witch Time ends, fall back on the Y B Y.
- Another combo you might want to know is Y Y Y Y B (B repeatedly), especially the air version. This combo is great because you can actually press Y before the combo ends and start up a whole new combo without knocking the enemy away.
- Holding down either punch or kick during a combo will stall the combo and perform one of your weapon's special abilities. For example, if you have the Shuraba sword equipped and you press Y Y Y, and then hold down the button on the third Y input, Bayonetta will go into a stance and charge her attack.
- When you release Y, Bayonetta will execute a huge slash and then you'll also be able to continue the combo. So the next input would count as the fourth input of the combo string.
- Another advantage to holding down an attack button during a combo is the ability to dodge an attack, release the button, and then continue your combo even though you were interrupted.
Angel Arms:
- Angel Arms are temporary weapons that are dropped by enemies that Bayonetta can pick up and use against them.
- There are a variety of Angel Arms in the game that each have their own uses. One of the most useful comes in the form of a staff, which Bayonetta can grab, press B, and then rotate the left stick to execute a devastating whirlwind technique that will severely damage any nearby enemy, often times completely killing off the weaker ones.
- Be careful when using Angel Arms though, as many of them are very slow, and should only be used while in Witch Time.
Prologue - The Vestibule
- Since this walkthrough will be covering the normal difficulty of Bayonetta, there's not much to advise here during the prologue since you have no life bar and can't die.
- That being said, this is the perfect opportunity for you to get used to the finer aspects of Bayonetta's combat mechanics. Get used to Bayonetta's main combos, like the Y B Y and the Y Y Y Y B combos, and see their application for yourself against the many angels you fight here.
- During the second verse of the prologue, your objective will be to execute three torture attacks before the timer runs out.
- Torture attacks can be performed by pressing Y and B next to an enemy when you have a full magic meter.
- It should be pretty easy to build up your magic meter since your enemies fight in slow motion up until the final torture attack.
- Once you execute your third torture attack, watch the remaining cutscenes and you'll complete the prologue.
Chapter 1 - The Angel's Metropolis
- Broken Moon Pearl #1: As soon as the chapter starts you can find a really deviously hidden Broken Moon Pearl, which will increase your magic meter every time you find two of them. Jump on to the train and then jump to the second floor of this room and destroy all of the benches situated around the room. When the last bench is destroyed, the train will depart, revealing the Broken Moon Pearl on the tracks where the train used to be.
- At the bottom level of the train station, look for a pair of metal detectors and pass on through.
- Continue down the path and you'll find a door that can be opened by hitting it with non stop combos.
- Head through the door and jump down into the gap below.
- Turn around and look for a chest that can be opened by beating the hell out of it.
- Grab the key from the chest and start working your way back out of the pit.
- A group of enemies will appear near the door where you entered. Use the key as a weapon to quickly take care of them, then jump across the gap and unlock the next door.
- Grab the book as you head towards the broken statue. Examine it to trigger an ambush from a bunch of Affinities.
- Kill all of the angels to break the seal blocking off the statues, then head over to them and press X.
- Press X and you'll trigger a lightning bolt that will hit you unless you dodge it. Use the purple circle that closes in on you to aid in your timing. Dodging the lightning bolt will put you into Witch Time and will allow you to walk on the water ahead and proceed to the next platform.
- Break the block ahead to create an elevator.
- Broken Moon Pearl #2: Once you create the elevator, head all the way back to where you found the key. You'll now see a portal on the ground leading to the first Alfheim. Complete the alfheim to obtain the next Broken Moon Pearl. If you need help, watch the video at the bottom of this walkthrough that details the locations of all of the collectible locations.
- Jump on to the elevator and take it up to the next room.
- Head down the long pathway and you'll trigger a cutscene with Rodin that introduces his shop.
- TIP: I'd recommend buying the Air Dodge and Stiletto techniques. The air dodge is an invaluable technique that will save your life later on and the Stiletto is a great attack that quickly lets you move from enemy to enemy.
- Broken Witch Heart #1: To find the first Broken Witch heart, look for a balcony above the open doorway leading to the Central Station. Jump on to the railing of the stairs, then jump to the wall to the left of the balcony, and use a combination of wall jumps and double jumps to reach the balcony and claim the BWH.
- Head through the doorway to reach Central Station.
- Broken Witch Heart #2: The next BWH is located on the right side of Central Station. Head down the first stair case then start heading to the right to find a chest with the BWH inside.
- Head forward to trigger a cutscene that will initiate a battle. You'll be introduced to a new type of enemy called Applaud. These guys are basically just bigger and tougher version of the standard Affinity angels.
- TIP: Applaud's also drop staffs that you can pick up and use against your enemies. Use the B attack to execute a devastating Area of Effect attack that will deal massive damage to any surrounding enemies.
- Once you dispatch the Applauds and Affinities, you'll be introduced to a Beloved.
- Beloveds are huge angels that primarily attack with their giant axe. However, if you get too close or you hang around their back for too long, they will also attack with a stomp or grab attack, so always be prepared to dodge.
- Once you deal enough damage to the Beloved, you'll be able to execute a Climax attack by pressing Y and B at the same time to finish it off in glorious fashion.
- When the Beloved is dead, head forward and collect the LP. LPs are items that you can take to Rodin, who will then turn them into new weapons for you to use. The LP you just collected will grant you the Shuraba sword.
- Head forward through the next door and get ready to defeat two Affinities that burst through the windows.
- Broken Witch Heart #3: Jump on to the platform above the pillars and look around for the next BWH.
- Break the door and head through to the next area.
- Watch the cutscene and you'll be placed into a flashback where you have to face off against a giant angel with dragon heads.
BOSS - Fortitude
- Follow your teammates to the bridge and start shooting at the boss with your guns.
- Your fellow witches will become dragon food, leaving you alone to fend off the monster.
- Now that you're alone, you'll have to actually worry about dodging the attacks.
- When Fortitude spins around, he's going to smack you with his tail. Wait for the tail to come into view, then quickly dodge to avoid getting hit.
- When one of the dragon head roars, wait a second or two until the head snaps forward before you dodge. There's no getting around this, you either have to have really quick reflexes, or you have to experience the attack enough times to be able to avoid it based on habit.
- If you can dodge the boss's bite attack, you should be able to activate Witch Time and punish it with combos. Try to use medium length combos to maximize the damage output.
- When you see a dragon head roar with fire coming out of its mouth, its going to start shooting fireballs. These are usually pretty easy to avoid. If you activate witch time, just keep shooting their heads. Note that they'll always shoot two fireballs, one from each head.
- If both dragon heads shoot forward and bite the ground, and you're stuck in the middle, quickly deal as much damage as possible to get them off or you're going to take unavoidable damage when the human head attacks you.
- Eventually the boss will retreat after taking enough damage and you'll return to the present time.
- Head down to the bridge and you'll be attacked by a Beloved who will backhand the bridge once he climbs up to your level. Be sure to be ready to jump over or dodge it.
- He will then grab the bridge and start slamming it against the wall. Pay no attention to it and just keep on attacking his arm.
- Once you deal enough damage, the Beloved will throw the bridge and you'll have to complete a quick time event that has you jumping to the next platform. Hold forward and hit A at the right time to jump, or you'll die an embarrassing death.
- Head down the stairs and the Beloved will crash through and start chasing you back up.
- Run back up the stairs and wait for the Beloved to meet you at the top.
- Once he's hanging off the edge of the platform, start unleashing combos on him, but be careful to avoid his desperate swipes and slams.
- When you deal enough damage, execute the Climax attack to put an end to the Beloved, and finish the chapter.
Chapter 2 - Vigrid, City of Deja Vu
BOSS - Jeanne
- The beginning of chapter 2 marks the first of several battles against Bayonetta's rival, Jeanne.
- Note that when your feet glow blue like they are right now, it means that you can walk on walls. Test this out as you jump on the wall up ahead and engage Jeanne.
- Along with all future battles against Jeanne, you need to use hit and dodge tactics. If you get too greedy and attack her for too long, she's just going to break out of it and punish you with her own attack.
- Your main strategy here should be to dodge one of her attacks, and then punish her with a quick combo before dodging away again. The Y B Y combo works great here.
- Keep up the pace and you should be able to take Jeanne down without too much trouble. Obviously this is the easiest of the Jeanne fights.
- Once the flashback is over and you regain control, jump on to the wall to the left and start heading up.
- Broken Witch Heart #4: The next BWH is located inside a statue to the left once you first jump on the wall.
- Start heading across the wall and you'll be interrupted by a cutscene formally introducing you to the enemies known as Dears and Decorarations.
- As soon as you regain control, dodge to the left or right to avoid gettting blasted by a fireball that was shot during the cutscene. Get used to this, as this game likes to get cheap hits on you by attacking as soon as you come back from a cutscene.
- Use your bullet climax technique to easily deal with all of the flying heads
- Once all of the enemies are cleared out, head to the other side of the wall and look for a balcony for you to drop down to.
- Open the door and head on through.
- Before heading down the path, look to the sides of the door you just entered through to find two of those statues that you saw earlier in Chapter 1. Press X near the statues and then run down the path to the breakable door on the other end.
- Press X to activate the lightning bolt and then dodge it at the right time to activate Witch Time. With Witch Time activated, break through the door and quickly head through to the other side.
- Broken Witch Heart #5: Head through to the streets and then once you reach the wide open area, take a look along the right side for a dark area where you'll find the next BWH.
- Continue forward and you'll trigger a cutscene that introduces Luka.
- Once the cutscene ends you'll be placed in a fight against a pack of angels.
- Aim to take out the larger Applauds first and then you can use their Angel Arms to tear apart the remaining Affinities.
- Once you clear out the small enemies, a Beloved will pop up out of the ground. Take him out the same way as the one you fought in chapter 1. He will likely climb up one of the buildings before you manage to take him out.
- Finish up the fight, watch the next cutscene, then proceed through the archway to the next area.
- Follow the cable car down the street.
- TIP: You can break all of the pots and signs here for some extra halos and materials to create items.
- Once you near the end of the street, an out of control cable car will come speeding down from behind you. Make sure to jump over the car when it gets close to avoid taking some damage, and to gain an easy achievement.
- Once you dodge the cable car, you'll be met by a new enemy type known as Enchants. Make sure to be ready to dodge right when the cutscene that introduces them ends.
- Enchants like to circle around you, which makes it a little bit tricky to hit them with regular melee attacks. Try to slow them down with your guns before you start swinging. When they ignite, get ready to dodge their attack.
- Broken Moon Pearl #3: Once you kill the three enchants, backtrack up the road to where the out of control cable car came from. There you'll find another Alfheim portal. Complete the challenge to gain the next BMP.
- Broken Witch Heart #6: Now head back down the road to where you fought the enchants. Head towards the archway and then wall jump and double jump on top of it. Complete the next Alfheim for another BWH.
- Head through the archway into the plaza and destroy some objects for halos and materials.
- Head over to the archway near the blue car to start up another fight against a group of Enchants. There are some more of them this time, but the strategy remains the same. Try using your bullet climax technique (rotate the control stick and press Y or B to deal some heavy damage while keeping an eye out on the rest of the enemies.
- Once you kill all of the Enchants, another Beloved will warp in to attack you. He'll be low on health, so it's probably the one you beat up earlier.
- Damage the Beloved enough and he'll be joined by another. Regardless of the number you have to fight though, they're still slow and easy to bring down. Try to focus on the one with low health first so you have one less to deal with.
- TIP: If you want to have some fun, try to lure the Beloved so that one of them is directly behind the other. Chances are, the one behind will attack the one in front in an attempt to get to you.
- Execute a climax attack to finish off the last Beloved and then pick up the LP that they drop.
- Broken Moon Pearl #4: When the Beloved are dead, backtrack all the way back to the door that you had to break open while in witch time. The next Alfheim portal will be there.
- Continue forward and you'll reach another area where you'll find a portal to Rodin's shop. Head inside and turn in your LP to get a new weapon.
- Once you return, head down the steps and you'll be attacked by a group of Applauds. Take them out to restore the statue back where the Rodin Shop portal was.
- Broken Moon Pearl #5: The third BMP is located inside the chest in plain sight near where you just fought the Applauds.
- Broken Witch Heart #7: The seventh BWH is more cleverly hidden. In the same area where you just found BMP #5, hop up to the balcony above and then wall jump and double jump to reach the next BWH at the top of the tree.
- Head back to the statue you just restored and press X to activate it.
- Now run back to where you just fought the Applauds and press X again to trigger the lightning bolt.
- Dodge the lightning bolt at the last second to activate witch time and beat up the wall blocking off the gap to turn it into a bridge.
- Quickly run across the bridge before it disappears and then continue along the path until you reach a cathedral.
- Watch the cutscene and then get ready for a quick boss battle against Fortitude once again.
BOSS - Fortitude
- Like the previous battle, all you really have to watch out for here are the fireballs and the chomp. The problem is that both attacks come really quickly so its a test of reflexes.
- The goal here is to avoid each attack so that you activate witch time. Once witch time is activated, quickly run up close and start unleashing a barrage of combos until witch time ends.
- Once witch time ends, retreat to the back and start shooting your guns until the boss decides to attack again.
- After taking enough damage, the second dragon head will appear. Keep a careful eye on both heads. When one snaps twice, get ready for it to lunge forward to try and bite you.
- Note that the only head you have to attack is the red one, so only worry about the blue one for defensive purposes.
- Once you bring the boss down to less than a fourth of its life, a cutscene will play. Get ready for a "Press the button to not die" quick time event. Press X at the right time or you'll get a cheap death on your record.
- Finish up the cutscene and you'll complete the chapter.
Chapter 3 - The Burning Ground
- When the chapter begins you'll have to fight against a group of flaming Affinities. These guys can only be harmed while in witch time, so focus on dodging their attacks before going on the offensive.
- TIP: They can also be hit by Torture Attacks while outside of Witch Time.
- Broken Moon Pearl #6: The sixth BMP can be found after killing the flaming Affinities. Head up the stairs near the start and look for a lone trash can. Break it to reveal the Alfheim portal, which can be found under an overhang near where you found BWH #5 in the previous chapter.
- Once the enemies are all dead, continue through the next archway and you'll arrive at the road where you ran from the cable car in the previous chapter. This time you'll have to run from a rushing stream of lava.
- Run past the Beloved as you head down street. Let them get engulfed by the lava.
- Once you reach the next area, you'll trigger a cutscene that introduces a new enemy type known as Fairness.
- Be ready to dodge as soon as the cutscene ends so you don't get hit by a fireball.
- Fairnesses are the first tough enemy type that you'll encounter in Bayonetta. Their attacks are fast, require quick reflexes in order to dodge, and are all pretty damaging. To top it all off, they can take a lot of punishment as well.
- Try to anticipate a fireball blast so you can dodge it and get in close to punish the Fairness while in Witch Time. Build up your magic meter in this way and then execute a torture attack to finish it off.
- Collect the LP piece and then continue through the archway to reach the area where you found Rodin's Shop in the previous chapter.
- Broken Witch Heart #8: The next BWH can be found in the same spot as BWH #7. Head to the area where you had to break the wall to make it a bridge in chapter 2. Hop up to the balcony to find the Alfheim portal.
- Head over to the statues and activate them to dodge a lightning bolt, activate witch time, and then proceed through the firewall when it goes down.
- More Affinities will show up, but they'll be taken care of by the lava in the next cutscene.
- When you regain control, start running forward to trigger a couple of Affinities to warp in. Deal with them, then head across the bridge of solid rock to the next group of buildings.
- Continue moving from building side, to bridge, to building side and leaping over the gaps made by the explosions until a cutscene starts playing that highlights another stream of lava rushing your way.
- Jump on to the bus down below and follow it to the next building.
- Continue running up the building until a cutscene triggers that will have another quick time event. Get ready to press X at the right time to survive.
- When you regain control, continue heading forward into the next area to face off against two Fairnesses at once.
- You can use the cars as projectiles by moving next to them and pressing X. This is a nice way to get some easy damage on them while keeping your distance. Just be ready to dodge their fireballs.
- TIP: As a general rule when fighting against multiple tough enemies at the same time, try to keep the camera on only one enemy at a time. Enemies are a lot less likely to attack you when they're off camera.
- Once you defeat the two beasts, continue forward and you'll trigger a cutscene that will have you pressing the X button repeatedly to blast through a wave of fire.
- Broken Moon Pearl #7 When you touch in the cave after blasting through the fire, turn around and open the chest to find the next BMP.
- Continue along the path, but be careful about the bursts of lava and the flaming Affinities. You can just run right past them if you want to conserve some health and energy.
- Once you reach the end of the cavern you can head into Rodin's Shop through the portal if you wish to stock up on any items or buy some techniques.
- When you're done shopping, continue heading down the rocky path, across the wood bridge, and check out the long stone bridge at the end.
- The bridge will collapse after having some stone columns fall on to it.
- Return to where the circular portal was and you'll be attacked by several Affinities.
- Take care of the enemies and the portal will activate. Head on through to arrive at Paradiso.
- Broken Moon Pearl #8: When you first enter Paradiso, head to the right and you'll see a long pathway on the water. At the end of the path is another Alfheim portal.
- Hidden LP: Return to the portal that you took to enter Paradiso and this time head left and follow the path leading behind the portal. At the end you'll find a hidden LP piece. Together with the piece you got from defeating the two Fairnesses, you should be able to create the Kulshedra whip by taking the completed LP to Rodin.
- Head up to the statues and you should know what to do by now. Activate witch time using the lightning bolt and then hop across the geysers.
- Proceed to the switch up ahead and press X to obtain a giant hourglass.
- Broken Witch Heart #9: From the switch, head to the right to find the next BWH out in the open.
- Take the hourglass back through the portal and head over to the recently destroyed bridge. Press X to restore the bridge to its original form.
- Broken Witch Heart #10: Once you restore the bridge, head all the way back through the cavern towards where you came in. There you'll find the next Alfheim portal.
- Ignore the enemies and just keep on running across the bridge. Eventually it'll start crumbling beneath your feet. Jump from piece to piece and then get ready to press A at the end to jump to some rocks on the surface of the lava.
- Continue across the rock bridge and be careful for the falling streams of lava. You can predict where they're going to land by the fiery circles on the floor.
- Broken Witch Heart #11: When you reach the end of the rock bridge and jump to the platforms above, head left to find a
- Head through the cavern to the right and you'll come to a large vertical passage with lava lining the sides.
- Run up the wall and avoid the falling rocks and lava pools as you work your way towards the top.
- Broken Witch Heart #12: After you exit the caves, head forward a couple of steps and then check the left side for a bunch of rocks. Jump over the rocks and then break the chest for the next BWH.
- Continue along the path and eventually you'll reach a colosseum to end the chapter.
Chapter 4 - The Cardinal Virtue of Fortitude
BOSS - Fortitude:
- Time to face off against Fortitude one last time.
- This battle takes several different forms depending on what the environment is like.
- If you're on the bridge, the name of the game is witch time activation, then punishment. Look to dodge the boss's lunges and then follow up with medium length combos. You want to try to get at least two wicked weaves in there.
- TIP: This time Fortitude won't telegraph his lunges by snapping his mouth twice. Instead it'll just slowly move its head forward then quickly shoot it out.
- If the fight goes to the ground and the ground is made up of lava, you need to run around to try to either find another bridge to get on top of, or an hourglass that will restore things back to normal and put you back on the bridge.
- If the fight goes to the ground and the ground is solid, use the same strategy as though you were on the bridge and try to activate witch time before you attack.
- Eventually, if you hit the boss enough you'll be able to stun it and execute a grab by pressing Y and B at the same time when prompted. After slamming it, it'll remain on the ground for a bit, allowing you to get a couple of extra hits in.
- Once you bring the boss's life down to a certain point, it will fly to the top of the collosseum and spew out a stream of fire down below. A prompt will come up telling you to press the A button. Keep on following the prompts and jump from rock to rock until your able to grab one of the heads by pressing Y and B.
- Follow the prompts and you'll rip one of the dragon heads off.
- Keep this up one more time until you're able to rip the second head off.
- Once you rip both heads off, its still not over.
- You now have five minutes to finish this boss off. Be ready to dodge its swooping attack when it flies back.
- Eventually it'll crash against the floor and bring its head within range. Quickly start beating the heck out of it, but keep an eye out on the floor. When it flashes, dodge to one of the sides. Spikes will come out of the ground where the flashes of light appear.
- When the gem on the head flashes, it's going to shoot out a large beam of energy. Its hard to avoid, but try to dodge right as it fires.
- Keep up the attack until his health bar is completely depleted. It's still not over though. When his health bar is gone, the boss will try one last tail swipe attack and you must counter it by pressining Y and B at the same time when it's about to hit you.
- Do so and you'll execute the climax attack that will put an end to this boss and this chapter.
Chapter 5 - The Lost Holy Grounds
- Head down the path breaking statues as you go for some extra items and materials for item creation.
- The floor will start cracking and breaking as you proceed, so be prepared to jump.
- Eventually you'll come to a group of Dears that are just flying around. Either ignore them and keep moving forward, or fight them with your guns. Just be careful not to fall off the bridge or you'll take some damage.
- When you make it to the Umbran Training Ground Ruins, head for the stairs and you'll be interrupted by a cutscene introducing you to two new enemies that typically appear in pairs named, Grace and Glory.
- Once again, be sure to dodge right when the cutscene ends to avoid getting cut up.
- Grace and Glory are probably the most aggressive enemies you'll find in Bayonetta, and as such they're two of the most dangerous as well.
- Don't be overly aggressive. If you just attack attack attack, they will tear you apart with their dodges and counter attacks. Be ready to dodge the second you see movement in their claws because their attacks come out lightning quick.
- Also be aware that their main claw swipe attack is actually a three hit combo, so if you dodge it, but don't activate witch time, be ready to dodge again almost instantly.
- If you see that they kind of parry your attack, immediately dodge to avoid their counter attack.
- Most of all, be patient don't get frustrated. These guys are in a whole other league than anything you've faced so far and fighting them is something that you'll eventually get used to.
- Once you take them down, collect the LP piece.
- Broken Moon Pearl #9: After you pick up the LP piece, back track all the way back to the beginning of the level to find an Alfheim portal.
- Head up the stairs and continue heading across the bridge. Affinities with trumpets will line the broken pieces of the bridge. Either run past them or take them out.
- Continue to the circular platform up ahead to trigger a cutscene.
- The end of the cutscene will introduce you to an enemy called Fearless. Yes, it looks a lot like Fairness, and yes it's basically the same enemy, only tougher. The main difference is that this one has a scorpion-like tail that shoots forward really quickly.
- Dodge right when the cutscene ends to avoid getting pierced by the tail and then focus on taking out either the Fearless or the Fairness. Remember, if an enemy is off screen, they won't attack you.
- Once you take out the two beats, head through the newly broken barrier and continue along the bridge.
- A couple of Applauds will warp in to hamper your progress forward. Again, its an optional battle, so either take them out or just run past them.
- Once you reach the next area you'll see a device on the left side. Move over to it and press X to activate it.
- Activating the device will put a full moon in the sky and activate another device at the end of the platform.
- Walk up the wall of the the device and then jump through the hole.
- As you're falling towards your destination, you can just plow through enemies to kill them. If you want to pause your flight, just shoot your guns .
- When you land, you'll immediately be attacked by another Grace and Glory, so be ready.
- Once you kill the Grace and Glory, a cutscene will roll that introduces another new enemy type known as a Harmony.
- Harmonies look like flying manta rays that fly in large packs and can be very dangerous if you let them get off their attacks going. You'll know they're about to attack when their eyes turn red and their tails flash blue.
- Use your guns to slow down their flight and then get in their face and hit them with quick air combos. They're not very durable and you'll be able to cancel their attacks if you hit them before they're able to get them off.
- TIP: Using a torture attack on a Harmony will give Bayonetta a cool Chainsaw temporarily.
- When you've defeated all of the Harmonies, collect the LP piece that they leave behind.
- Broken Witch Heart #13: After collecting the LP piece, look to the right of the steps for a chest containing the next BWH.
- Head up the stairs but be ready to jump over the wind snakes that fly across as you try to make your way up.
- Broken Moon Pearl #10: As you're climbing the stairs, look along the left side for a spot where you can jump down. It's located on the opposite side of the portal to Rodin's Shop. Break the chest here for the next BMP.
- Head into Rodin's Shop to stock up on whatever you might need for the battles ahead, then proceed up to the door.
- Jump on to the top platform, then drop down and land on the switch to open the door.
- Head inside and start climbing the steps to initiate a cutscene introducing you to Ardors.
- Ardors basically extremely durable and dangerous versions of Applauds that now come equipped with a shield and a long and powerful sword.
- These enemies are also big fans of using combination attacks, so don't think you're safe just because you dodged one of their strikes. Unless you activate Witch Time, assume that there's another hit coming and dodge again just in case.
- While Ardors are tough, they're still not as challenging as a Grace and Glory pair, so you should be able to handle them once you get used to the timing of their attacks.
- When you finish them off, the full moon will shine through, indicating that you can now walk on the walls.
- Start walking on the walls and climb up to the top of the tower.
- Along the way you'll spot glowing runes that appear on the walls. Avoid touching these as they'll burn your feet.
- About halfway up you'll run into a group of Harmonies. Either fight them or ignore them and keep climbing.
- Broken Witch Heart #14: If you want the next BWH, you're going to have to kill those Harmonies that attack you as you're climbing the wall. Once you kill them, drop back down to the bottom of the tower to find an Alfheim portal.
- Once you reach the top you'll find another one of those doors that can only be opened by attacking it while in Witch Time.
- Head to the other end of the room opposite of the door and activate the switch on top of the platforms.
- The switch will open a door in the ceiling that leads to a room with the statues you need to activate witch time.
- Examine the statues and you'll be attacked by another Grace and Glory.
- Once you take out the two clawed enemies, activate the statues, go down to the door below, dodge the lightning bolt to activate witch time, and break open the door.
- Head through the newly opened doorway to reach a winding spiral path up the mountain.
- Broken Witch Heart #15: Once you reach the winding path, head right and follow the path downwards to find an Alfheim portal.
- Follow the path up, but be careful not to get blown off or hit by the wind snakes.
- Hidden LP Piece: As you're heading up the spiral path, you'll notice an area with a waterfall to the left. Jump on over, then walk around to the back of the waterfall to find a chest containing the LP piece. This should complete the LP, and allow you to wield the Durga claws once you deliver the LP to Rodin.
- Once you reach the top of the path you'll have to fight against a new enemy type that doubles as sort of a mini boss known as an Inspired.
- Inspireds are pretty easy to bring down. When they're flying around in their air, simply drill them with your guns until they fall down to the ground.
- Once they're down, hit them with a couple of quick Y B Y combos until they wake up.
- When they're up, but not flying around, play defensively. get ready to avoid their tail swipes and fireballs. If you manage to activate witch time, get in close and dish out some quick combos before it runs out.
- Guns are really damaging against these guys, so try to always keep the fire on, even when you're waiting for their attack.
- Eventually you'll whittle their health down enough to execute a Climax attack and finish the battle off.
- Head up the ramp and continue through the doorway. You'll spot a portal for Rodin's Shop at the end of the tunnel.
- Once you've done your shopping and turned in your new LP, start heading up the tower.
- Broken Witch Heart #16: When you reach the top, look around for a chest that contains the next BWH.
- Head through the doorway and you'll face off against another Inspired. Finish it off in the same fashion that you took the last one out.
- Once the inspired is gone, break through the gate at the end of the path and head forward to trigger a cutscene.
- When the cutscene ends, you'll have to jump to a couple of platforms before another cutscene interrupts and sets up another battle against Jeanne.
BOSS - Jeanne:
- The second fight against Jeanne is very similar to the first one, except she's a bit tougher and you no longer have to bend your brain thinking about fighting on the wall.
- I'd recommend equipping the Shuraba sword because of its overall balance of range, power, and speed. Using the Stilletto technique (RB + Forward on the Left Stick + Y) with it also gives you a way to close the distance very quickly.
- Remain aggressive and push the pace, but always dodge whenever it looks like she parries one of your attacks, or your attacks just aren't hitting.
- Keep an eye out for when Jeanne flashes, as this indicates when she'll use a Wicked Weave attack. If you can dodge this, you'll activate Witch Time and can truly lay out the punishment. Try using the Y Y Y Y B (B repeatedly) combo while in Witch Time to deal some heavy damage.
- You also need to keep an eye out for button prompts. If you see Y and B flash on the screen, quickly press both at the same time to execute a potential counter. When you initiate a counter, you'll have to press the specified button enough times to knock Jeanne away and deal considerable damage. If you don't press the button fast enough though, you'll be on the receiving end.
- Once you defeat Jeanne, watch the cutscene and then you'll get the chance to use your Beast Within ability.
- To use Beast Within, press RT twice while running to transform into a panther. Use the panther form to cross extremely long gaps that would otherwise be impossible for Bayonetta.
Chapter 6 - The Gates of Paradise
- TIP: There are a series of really challenging fights in this chapter, so you might want to look into grabbing a Red Hot Shot and a couple of health items.
- Hidden LP Piece: As soon as the chapter begins, turn around and look for a chest at the back end of this area. Inside lies the first LP piece for your next weapon.
- Break the pots and plants in this starting area for some extra halos and items, then head down the stairs and through the gate to initiate a battle against a group of Affinities and an Ardor. Take care of the lot of them and you'll activate the switches on the floor.
- Broken Witch Heart #17: Hop up the wall to the left and you'll find a chest containing the next BWH.
- In order to open the door ahead, you'll have to step on the three switches below and still manage to make it through the door before it closes. The only way to do this is by using the panther form to run across the switches and run under the door.
- Hidden LP Piece: When you enter the next room, jump down to the left and head to the wall. You should see a bunch of rocks that can be broken through to reveal a chest containing the second LP piece.
- Head to the middle island and examine the broken statue. Doing so will cause two Inspired to come out and play.
- Like before, use your guns to knock them down to your level, then punish them after dodging their attacks.
- TIP: Be ready to press Y and B when one of the Inspired flies near you to execute a counter attack.
- Once the two Inspired are dead, return to the center island and activate witch time by using the statues. With Witch Time activate, hop across the water geysers and continue through the door.
- A bunch of Dears and Decorations guard the next room. Kill them if you wish and then continue down the hall.
- The way to the next door is line with spike traps. Study their pattern and then walk through when its safe. Note that the spikes will only hurt you if you touch their points. You can walk into their bodies without fear of getting hurt.
- Flip the switch at the end of the hall to retract the spikes and cause a bunch of Affinities and Applauds to attack.
- After you take care of all of the enemies, the buttons on the floor will light up, indicating that you can now use panther form to run across them to open the door.
- Broken Moon Pearl #11: Before you run across the buttons on the floor in the spike room, head all the way back to where you fought the two Inspired. An Alfheim portal will be open on the platform where you first entered the room.
- Head through the door and then climb the stairs and you'll have to fight against a total of four Glory and Graces. Thankfully, you'll only have to deal with them two at a time.
- This will likely be the hardest battle you'll have to face so far, so make sure play defensively and actively look to use witch time whenever possible to make things easier on you.
- Once you finish up the fight, continue up the stairs and you'll reach a bridge that will break in the middle once you start heading across it.
- Kill the enemies here if you wish, or you can just skip past them and use your panther form to jump across the gap.
- Head to the doors to trigger a cutscene.
- Once the cutscene ends, you'll have to defend the little girl from a bunch of Affinities.
- The girl's shield is pretty sturdy so you don't have to worry too much about it getting destroyed. Just focus on killing the enemies as fast as you can and use the Stiletto technique (hold RB + Forward + Y) to dash towards any enemy that starts attacking the shield.
- After you kill all of the enemies and watch the cutscene, head up the stairs and you'll be met by a group of transparent enemies.
- Normal attacks wont hurt these guys, so pick up the light post to your right and start wailing away on them with it.
- Once you kill them all, break the gate up ahead and proceed into the tunnel.
- A Beloved will start chasing you and Cereza down the tunnel, but like the enemies in the previous section, you won't be able to damage him with physical attacks.
- So the only solution is to run, or rather, let Cereza run while you hang back and throw cars, trash containers, and light posts at the Beloved.
- When Cereza stops due to a gate, quickly run forward and break it down so Cereza can continue forward.
- Keep this up until you reach the end of the tunnel, where the Beloved will become stuck.
- Lead Cereza forward and you'll see a portal that leads to Paradiso. Head on through and then watch the cutscene.
- Get ready to fight against a pair of Fairness and Fearless once the cutscene ends.
- Once again, you'll have to protect Cereza while taking out the beasts. It still doesn't change much though. As you previously learned, Cereza's bubble is pretty sturdy and can take quite a beating.
- Try to use Torture attacks to finish the two enemies off and then continue forward.
- Dodge the falling rocks and wait for the Beloved to free himself.
- Once the Beloved is free, he'll take Cereza hostage and then attack you. Despite him holding on to the little one, he's still a pretty standard Beloved and should be taken down as such.
- When you finish the fight, you will have to choice after a doppleganger of yourself through a long tunnel while she shoots a series of lasers at you.
- You can either just transform into the panther form and just muscle your way through this section, or you can just run forward and dodge the lasers as they get close.
- Once you reach the end you'll have to face off against yourself. This fight is basically like a much easier version of the Jeanne fight. Stay aggressive and dodge anytime you see a green glow.
- The fight will end fairly quickly and then the doppleganger will reveal her true form, a new enemy known as Joy.
- Joy is very dangerous at long range with many projectiles and her whip attack, so be aggressive and try to get in close.
- Like other enemies, if she ends up parrying your attack, watch her movements and get ready to dodge her sword slash to activate Witch Time.
- Once the battle is over, head through the open doorward and you'll see a portal.
- Broken Witch Heart #18: Before you go into the portal, check behind it to find a chest with the next BWH.
- Head through the portal to return to Vigrid.
- Continue forward on to the bridge and you'll trigger a cutscene that will end the chapter.
Chapter 7 - The Cardinal Virtue of Temperance
BOSS - Temperance
- Most of this battle with Temperance will take place on the floating piece of rock that you're standing on at the start.
- TIP: This is a fight where there is a lot of downtime between the boss's attacks. During this time you should constantly be shooting him with your guns to chip off some health.
- While standing on the rock, there are a couple of thing to look out for.
- The first is when the boss pulls back its fist and it starts charging some lightning. Obviously this telegraphs a punch attack. The punch isn't that fast so it should be easy to avoid.
- If the punch hits and knocks the platform away, hit A when prompted to leap from platform to platform until you land on a new one.
- The next thing that the boss likes to do is grab on to the rock with one hand, and then shoot it with his other. As soon as he grabs the platform, unload on his hand with repeated Y B Y combos. When the gun fire gets close, get ready to press A when prompted to leap to a new platform.
- Other times, instead of shooting the rock, he'll try to shoot you. The only difference here is that you'll have to actually dodge the gunfire instead of just pressing A to escape it.
- His other option is grabbing the platform and then punching you. This punch is a bit faster than the one that he started off the fight with, so pay careful attention to his arm and dodge as soon as you see movement.
- Regardless of what he decides to shoot or punch, you still need to attack the hand that holds the platform.
- Once you deal enough damage, the boss will quickly punch you with his damaged hand and you'll have the opportunity to press Y and B to counter it.
- Succeed in the counter and you'll be able to run up the arm of the boss. Be careful of the wind snakes that wind down the length of the arm.
- Follow the stream of orange lightning to the source and start attacking it. Keep a close finger on RT to dodge when the orb glows blue and emits a shockwave. If birds fly out, just go into panther form and run in a circle until they all swoop in.
- Once you deal enough damage to the orb, get close to it and press Y and B to execute a Climax Attack.
- Finish the Climax Attack to remove the first arm from the boss. Once you finish it, you'll return to the floating rock to repeat the same process for the next arm.
- While you're attacking the arm that is holding the platform, get ready to avoid energy blasts coming from the boss's eyes.
- Eventually you'll be able to run on to Temperance's arm again. Seek out the next energy source and destroy it to rip off another arm.
- With both arms gone, the fight will now move to the boss's body.
- Explore the body and seek out and destroy all of the energy sources that are powering the boss's core.
- Once you kill all of the energy sources you'lll have to destroy the boss's head.
- The head is the hardest part of this fight. Be aggressive but don't be reckless. When the boss shoots energy into the air, dodge like crazy to avoid the raining beams of death.
- When the boss opens its mouth and shoots a large beam of energy in a circle, try to double jump and then dodge over it when the beam gets close.
- Other attacks the boss will use include eye beams, which can just be avoided by running to the side and dodging, and letting out a wind snake that will travel around its head.
- Bring down his health this one last time and you'll be able to execute the final Climax Attack to finish off this boss.
Chapter 8 - Route 666
- When the chapter begins, you'll be on the back of a speeding truck on a highway, with enemies all around on cars.
- Take care of the two enemies in front of you first, then start jumping from car to car and dispatching with the enemies on each of them.
- TIP: Keep an ear out for a trumpet sound. Affinities on other cars have a tendency to snipe at you while you're focusing on clearing the vehicle you're standing on.
- Once you kill all of the enemies on top of the cars, you'll move on to the next verse.
- In this battle you have to face off against several Joys while speeding cars come whizzing by.
- This is a pretty annoying battle due to the fact that not only do you have to deal with a bunch of some of the most elusive enemies in the game, but you also have to do so while worrying about getting run over by cars.
- Try your best to keep the camera pointing in the direction that the cars are coming from as you're fighting the Joys.
- Once the fight ends, you'll watch a cutscene, complete a quick time event, and then you'll be placed on a motorcycle.
- The Motorcycle section that makes up the majority of the rest of this chapter is pretty simple. Constantly press X to fire at everything in front of you, press RT to slide under the closing doors, and avoid running into stuff.
- Broken Witch Hearts #19: You'll find Broken Witch Heart #19 near the end of verse 3. When you get to the last bridge that is guarded by a Beloved, veer to the right and ride up the ramp to find the BWH,
- Broken Witch Heart #20: The next BWH is located a bit after verse 4 begins. After you exit the tunnel, veer to the right again and be on the lookout for a path that branches off. Follow this path and you'll run into the next BWH.
- Once you finish the motorcycle section, you'll have to face off against three new enemies known as Braves. These guys are basically smaller and quicker versions of Beloveds that can combine into a Beloved if you give them enough time. To be honest, taking them down when they combine into a Beloved is actually easier.
- You spend the entirety of this fight in Witch Time, but you have a time limit to defeat them. Don't worry too much about the time limit. It should be more than enough time to take them down even if they do transform.
- Once the fight is won, you'll complete the chapter.
Chapter 9 - Paradiso-A Remembrance of Time
NOTE: In order to get one of the Broken Witch Hearts in this level, you'll need the Crow Within powerup from Rodin.
- When the chapter begins, jump forward to the next floating wall and then jump across the floating platforms.
- Broken Witch Heart #21: Right after the floating platforms is an island with a large wall. Jump to the island, but dont jump over the wall yet. Follow the outside of the wall to the left and you'll find a chest with the next BWH.
- Jump over the wall and head towards the statue in the middle to trigger some angels to warp in. Finish them off and then pick up the key that they drop.
- Use the key in the statue to create rings of golden light that lead to a small moon above.
- Broken Moon Pearl #12: After you place the key into the statue run straight ahead, up the stairs, and break the wall with the picture of the sun. Inside you'll find the next Alfheim.
- Hidden LP Piece: Break the sun wall on the other end of the island to find a hidden LP Piece.
- Start jump up the golden rings until you reach the floating moon. Wander around the moon until enemies start appearing.
- Kill the enemies that warp in to grab another key. Use the key in the statue to cause the moon to roll over to the next area.
- Run across the next bridge of light to reach a gated island.
- Jump on to the snake head bridge and then get ready to run away from the giant ball that chases after you.
- In order to get away from the ball, you'll have to run away in Panther form, while avoiding the beams of light that shoot down and activating witch time. Activating Witch Time will cause the ball to move slow enough for you to escape it without ever getting touched.
- Once you reach the next platform, break the wall to create a cog that will teleport to the floor. Grab the staff and rotate it so that the bridges of light line up.
- Head across the bridge to reach a plaza where a key will be smashed into pieces.
- Head around the plaza and break each of the chests to get a piece of the key. Be careful though, as three of the chests will contain either a Glory, a Grace, or a Fairness. As soon as you open the chest, dodge just in case.
- When you assemble the key, pick it up and bring it over to the statue at the top of the stairs.
- Use the key to create a group of platforms of light that will lead you over to the next area.
- Broken Witch Heart #22: The next BWH is located in plain sight inside a chest right after you jump across the platforms of light.
- Head across the bridge and you'll trigger a cutscene that introduces a new type of enemy known as Kinship.
- In order to take down a Kinship, you'll have to jump on to its deck and attack the big red jewel on the box where the missiles fly out of. While you're attacking the jewel, you need to keep an eye out for missiles and two arms that fly out and shoot towards you if you spend too long on top of the ship.
- Once the battle ends, a LP piece will appear before you.
- Broken Moon Pearl #13: Just to the left of the LP Piece is a chest containing the next BMP.
- Broken Witch Heart #23: This next Alfheim is located far off in the distance near the recently downed Kinships. Jump on the deck of one of the ships and then look around in the background for a lone floating platform of light. In order to reach it, you'll have to jump off the ship while in panther mode, double jump, and then fly towards the platform as a crow.
- Head up the ramp at the end and jump through the hole to drop down through a group of tentacles.
- NOTE: If you fly through and destroy all of the tentacles in this section, you'll be awarded with an achievement. To do this, slow your decent whenever you near a tentacle by firing your guns, then continue falling when you align yourself with one.
- Once you reach the bottom, you'll be ambushed by a group of Joys. Use torture attacks to bring their health down whenever possible and make heavy use of that dodge button. Three Joys at once means you'll have a lot of long range attacks flying your way.
- Once you clear the area of Joy, head up the stairs, past the falling ball, and use the portal to Rodin's shop if you need to purchase anything with all of the halo's you've collected.
- When you're done with Rodin, start heading across the bridge of light.
- Hidden LP Piece: Instead of following the bridge of light upwards, instead jump across when you reach the gap in the bridge. When you land on solid ground, head up the stairs all the way to the end where you'll find another wall with a sun on it. Break the wall to find the final LP Piece. Take it to Rodin to obtain the Kilgore rocket launcher.
- Continue across the various platforms of light and crushing boulder sections and you'll reach a large bridge with wind snakes.
- Make it past this final area and you'll reach the boss of the level.
BOSS - Golem
- First off, be sure to dodge as soon as the cutscene ends to avoid being bitten by the dragon transformation.
- Golem is a boss that follows a very strict pattern of attack. He'll transform into a random monster, execute an attack, return to ball form, wait a second or two, then repeat the process.
- Note that when Golem is in his ball form, you should constantly be shooting him with your guns. If you shoot him enough so that he lights up yellow, he'll be stunned and you can attack his core freely.
- Once you learn his transformations and how to punish them, the battle becomes one of the easiest in the game.
- Golem's most frequent transformation is turning into a bird. He has two attacks in this form, but they're easy to differentiate. When he turns into a bird and leans backward, he's about to swoop in. Simply dodge to the side as he approaches. Can't punish him for this one.
- Its second attack while in bird form is to create tornados with its wings. He only creates two of them and both are very easy to dodge. Can't punish him here either.
- Another one of his transformations includes a dragon head. While in this form, he'll first chomp anything close to him, then he'll sometimes shoot his head out to attack you at a distance. Try to dodge the first attack so that you activate witch time and punish the red core on its head.
- His third and final transformation has two attacks as well. He'll transform into a pair of hands and then either use a clap attack, or a double punch.
- When both hands go to the side, obviously you'll know he's going to use his clap. You need to be patient on this one, as the timing is a little later than you might expect. If you dodge too early, you'll surely be hit by the attack. Once you activate witch time, attack the core in the middle.
- When one hand goes up and the other goes down, he's going to use his punch attack. The timing for this one is pretty quick so be ready to dodge when you see that hand go up. If you miss activating witch time on the first hand, try again on the second hand.
- Once you bring down his health, hit him with a amusing Climax Attack, and you'll be done with this boss battle.
- Broken Witch Heart #24: After killing the Golem, head up the stairs to the left to find a chest containing the next BWH.
- Broken Witch Heart #25: After killing the Golem and collecting BWH #24, backtrack all the way back to where you fought the three Joys after falling through the tentacles. There you'll find another Alfheim portal.
Chapter 10 - Paradiso-A Sea of Stars
- When the chapter begins you'll have to face off against three Joys again. Use the same tactics as the previous chapter when you had to fight the same group of enemies.
- Once they're dead, drop down through the hole and kill the weak Affinities in the area.
- Break some objects in the background for some materials to make items and then start searching for the breakable walls that create cogs on the floor. There are four in total and can be found in each corner of the plaza.
- Once all four cogs have been created, head to the staff in the middle and you'll trigger a Glory and Grace to warp in. You should be used to fighting them by now. Take them out and then grab hold of the staff in the middle of the plaza.
- Broken Moon Pearl #14: Turn the staff clockwise and you'll turn the plaza towards a small floating island with nothing but an Alfheim portal and a chest. Open the chest to find the BMP.
- Broken Witch Heart #26: Complete the Alfheim on this island for the next BWH.
- Turn the staff counterclockwise to align the plaza with another chunk of land. Jump towards in while in panther form to reorient yourself.
- Once you touch ground, start moving forward and you'll be attacked by a group of harmonies. There's not much room to fight them, so fire at them with your guns while backing away until they get close enough to start dodging their attacks and activating Witch Time.
- Head forward into the large open area ahead and you'll have to face off against a much smaller version of Fortitude.
- Be aggressive and continuously attack the jewel on its head while being careful to dodge its stomps and fire breaths.
- Once the mini Fortitude goes down, you'll have to fight a weak version of Temperance.
- Dodge all of Temperance's lasers and energy blasts coming from its head and arms respectively while shooting at it with your guns.
- Get ready to dodge it's punch when it reaches back with one of its hands and electricity starts emitting from it.
- If you can activate Witch Time by dodging the punch at the right time and can deal enough damage to the hand, the head will become stunned and will fall into range of your attacks.
- TIP: Try to use the Shuraba's charge attacks by holding down Y and releasing after the first charge to deal enough damage to stun Temperance.
- Once you defeat both minibosses, head towards the cathedral. You'll be interrupted by a cutscene where a giant snake head will crash into the island the cathedral is on, causing it to spin.
- Time your jump so that you land in the cathedral and then head inside.
- Kill all of the enchants inside and then break the wall at the end.
- Wait on the balcony until you see a platform below with green particles floating in the air. Once you see it, jump off and land on the platform.
- Three Kinships will be waiting for you once you land, so be ready to dodge a lot of missiles as you jump from ship to ship to bring them down.
- Broken Moon Pearl #15: When you kill the last Kinship, jump to the platform of light just up ahead and break the chest to find this BMP.
- Broken Witch Heart #27: Once you get BMP #15 from the chest on top of the platform of light, look around in the distance for another platform. Once you see it, jump towards it while in panther form, double jump, then fly as a crow towards the platform and enter the Alfheim.
- After destroying the three kinships, hop across the platforms of light to reach a new island where a group of tentacles guard the bridge up ahead.
- Run through the tentacles, but be ready to avoid them when they start swooping.
- Continue down the steps and eventually two statues will come to life in the form of gold Grace and Glories.
- This is easily going to be the hardest fight you'll encounter up to this point. Gold Glory and Graces are ridiculously aggressive, very strong, and to top it all off, you can't activate Witch Time against them. If you have any items that increase your attack damage or defense, now would be a good time to use them.
- Finish these two off and you'll be treated to another cutscene involving Luka and Cereza.
- When the cutscene ends, continue forward and you'll reach a section full of spikes. Take note of the path of the spikes and just dodge your way through the entire section.
- Continue forward to find another portal to Rodin. Head inside to stock up on whatever you may need, especially since you likely used some items dealing with those gold Glory and Graces.
- Broken Witch Heart #28: Break the wall behind Rodin's portal to reveal and floating platform with a chest containing the next BWH. Note that the statues here contain gold Glory and Graces, so break them at your own risk.
- Broken Witch Heart #29: After obtaining BWH #28, backtrack all the way back past the spikes and past the tentacles to find the next Alfheim portal.
- Once you finish with Rodin, head to the left and drop down to the ground below to trigger the arrival of two golden Beloveds. Unlike the golden Glory and Graces, you can still activate Witch Time against these guys so they're still pretty easy.
- Take them out to cause the water level to rise a bit.
- Once you defeat three Beloveds, you'll have to take down two golden Inspireds. Simply stand on the platform and shoot at them with your guns until they fall down. Quickly run over to the fallen beast and unleash hell on them until they get back up.
- When you defeat all of the Inspireds that the game throws at you, the water level will be high enough for you to activate witch time using the statues, run across the water, then wall jump and double jump up to the area with the portal.
- Head on through the portal to complete the chapter.
Chapter 11 - The Cardinal Virtue of Justice
- When the level begins you'll actually start off by killing some random angels instead of jumping right into the boss fight.
- Build up your magic meter by attacking the Affinities and then use your torture attacks to kill the Ardors.
- Once you finish killing all of the angels, watch the cutscene and then get ready to face off against Justice.
BOSS - Justice
- Like the battle against Temperance, this battle mostly takes place on top of floating rocks and you'll have to jump to new rocks every now and then when Justice decides to break the one you're standing on.
- Start off the battle by going right for Justice's head. If the tentacles decide to start spewing purple poison, dodge it when it moves from left to right, then rush forward and start attacking the head while it moves from right to left. The first pass will only hit you if you're close to the head, and the second pass will only hit you if you're far away.
- As you're attacking the head, pay close attention to the tentacles. Dodge whenever you see them about to slam down or swipe across the rock.
- When both tentacles start slamming the sides of the rock at the same time, the head is about to destroy the rock you're standing on. Either let it be destroyed and then be ready to press Y and B when prompted to avoid being killed, or just go into panther form and hop to the left or right to land on a new rock.
- Continue the assault on the head and eventually it'll be stunned and lie its neck out on the rock.
- Hop on to the neck and run across it while in panther form. Be ready to dodge when you see the tentacles swipe or when you see a bunch of blades form.
- When you reach the end, you'll see a cutscene where Bayonetta will cause the boss to cough up its core. Attack it enough and Bayonetta will eventually cut it off. Just be careful to avoid getting whacked by the tentacles.
- After you destroy one of the necks, you'll land back on one of the rocks and will have to continue the process once again.
- This time Justice might throw in some new tricks. If it spews out flowers onto the platform, quickly kill them to avoid them becoming a problem. If it shoots out its head, avoid it right as it gets close and use Witch Time to punish it and deal some big damage with the Y Y Y Y B (B B B B) combo.
- Eventually the tentacles will start throwing gigantic rocks at you. Be prepared to press Y and B when prompted to initiate a climax attack that will instantly stun the head.
- From there continue what you did the last time to cut off another head.
- Repeat this one more time to cut off the last head and then finish it off with a final climax attack to finish the fight.
Chapter 12 - The Broken Sky
- Broken Witch Heart #30: As soon as the level begins, head forward, hop over the railing, and then start heading backwards to find a chest containing the next BWH.
- Head forward along the beaten path while being careful to avoid Jeanne's wicked weaves whenever you see them starting to form.
- Once you reach the area with the chest, break it to find a Red Hot Shot, and then kill the Affinities that warp in nearby.
- When the area is clear, head around the fence and down the stairs. Hop across the platforms and make your way towards the yellow door at the end.
- Head through the door and then jump down to trigger a cutscene where Bayonetta will fall out of the plane.
- Press A when prompted to jump from box to box and make your way back inside.
- Run up the ramp and you'll trigger a Glory and Grace to warp in. Deal with them and continue heading up to trigger another ambush by a bunch of Applauds. They just don't give a break here do they?
- Take out the group of three Applauds and you'll earn yourself some breathing room.
- Broken Witch Heart #31: Look towards the left side for a ladder. Double jump and wall jump off the ladder to reach a platform with a chest containing the next BWH.
- Broken Witch Heart #32: After getting BWH #31, face towards the yellow door you entered from and jump/fly all the way across back to the other side. Retrace your steps all the way back to the beginning of the level. Here you'll fight against a group of angels and if you defeat all of them, the portal to the next Alfheim will appear.
- Use Rodin's portal if you need to and then break through the door to the right.
- Head through and you'll find yourself outside of the plane on a rotating platform with a bunch of Dears flying towards you. Take them out with your guns.
- Broken Witch Heart #33: Before you follow the rotating platform to the end, look to the left for a turbine that you can jump into. A bunch of angels will attack you once inside. Instead of killing them, use them to activate witch time so you can run past the fans all the way to the end where the next Alfheim portal awaits.
- Follow the rotating platform to the end to watch a cutscene involving Jeanne.
BOSS - Jeanne:
- Jeanne fights pretty seriously in this one, so be ready for a tough fight.
- The main thing that you need to watch out for, and what you need to train yourself to react to, is Jeanne's wicked weave attacks. Dodging these is the only way you'll be able to activate Witch Time against Jeanne. So whenever you see Jeanne pose for a split second, or see her emit red light, get ready to dodge.
- Outside of that, same tactics still apply. Be aggressive, be prepared to dodge a lot, and look for opportunities to press Y and B to counter one of Jeanne's attacks.
- When Jeanne takes enough damage, she'll start attacking with her motorcycle. This actually makes things easier since her attacks are a lot more predictable while she's on the motorcycle.
- Always try to be behind her so that she can't shoot you with her gun. When she lifts her front wheel up to turn around, dodge so that you remain behind her and keep on attacking.
- Once you break her motorcycle, the battle will resume as normal.
- Once you finish Jeanne off and watch the cutscene, you'll find yourself inside a sinking airship.
- Use Rodin's shop if you want and then use panther form to leap through the electrified room.
- Once you find Cereza and regain control, quickly start jumping towards the camera to land on non electrified ground.
- Place Cereza near the barrier and then start working on defeating all of the enemies.
- Once the barrier goes down, pick her up again, place her at the next barrier, and repeat the destruction of the angels that warp in.
- You need to be quick about this because the electrified water is slowing making its way towards you.
- Repeat this one more time for the last barrier and then pick up Cereza and head on through.
- A cutscene will play that shows the ship splitting into two. Once it ends, you'll fall down and will have to walk up the wall to reach the top.
- Along the way, you'll be attacked by Harmonies. Before dealing with them, quickly run up to the barrier and place Cereza down.
- With Cereza out of harms way, time to start taking down the Harmonies. Once again, be quick because the electrified water will start creeping its way up.
- Once the coast is clear, pick up Cereza and continue heading up to complete the chapter.
Chapter 13 - The Cardinal Virtue of Prudence
BOSS - Prudence
- Prudence is a very unique boss battle in that the whole fight is spent while Bayonetta is surfing on a piece of debris.
- You main objective for the first part of this fight is to take out the boss's legs. So surf on over to one of the legs and start wailing on the head.
- The boss will soon dive into the water and then start jumping out in an attempt to bite you. Just keep on moving and dodge whenever you see the water start to ripple.
- Next he'll swim towards you and leap out of the water. Just swim towards him and he'll jump right over you.
- When he emerges after he jumps over you will be your chance to do some damage. Quickly swim towards his legs and start attacking the heads. Be on the lookout for missiles that he fires and the fireballs that the heads spew. Try to avoid the fireballs at the right time to activate Witch Time and maximize the amount of damage you do to the heads.
- You also need to watch out for the lasers that come out of the turrets on the top of the legs. When you see the turret pop out, get some distance and get ready to dodge.
- Take out the four legs and you'll be able to execute a Climax Attack. Instead of just mashing a button though, you'll have to guide the boss into your spider by mashing the X button and steering with the left stick. Be ready to press Y and B when prompted to smack the bucking boss when it tries to throw you off or you'll have to initiate the Climax Attack again after the boss goes through its attack pattern.
- Once you successfully complete the Climax Attack, the boss's head will be exposed. Go through the motions of dodging its string of attacks and then start wailing on the head once it emerges again.
- While attacking the head you mainly have to watch out for easy to predict bite and stomp attacks. It should be pretty easy to activate witch time while looking out for these attacks.
- Execute one more climax attack on the boss when it's low on life and you'll move on to the next phase of this battle.
- In phase two, Bayonetta will be sucked into a whirlpool with the boss at the bottom. Work your way towards the boss while avoiding getting hit by the rotating lasers emitted by the boss's tongue thing.
- Once you get close, continue the attack on the red jewel under the mouth. The attacks you need to watch out for are the same as when you were attacking the head from before.
- Prudence will likely blow you back before you manage to finish him off. Work your way back towards him and avoid the faster moving lasers to activate witch time.
- Finish him off with one more Climax Attack and you'll complete this chapter.
Chapter 14 - Isla Del Sol
- The entire first half of Isla Del Sol is a throwback to arcade shooters of old like Space Harrier and features Bayonetta on a missile shooting down hordes of enemies.
- For this section all you really have to do is mash the Y button to shoot your regular bullets and press B whenever you want to shoot a magic missile.
- Dodge enemy attacks to build your magic meter which power your missiles.
- Twice throughout this segment, a group of angels will try to board your missile and you'll have to take them out using the regular combat controls.
- Broken Witch Hearts #34 and #35 For both of these BWHs, you will have to defeat the last enemy on the missile with a torture attack.
- At the very end you'll have to fight against a series of prior bosses like a group of three Inspired and Temperance.
- Temperance serves as the sort of final boss here and attacks using gun arms and a horde of Dears.
- When fighting Temperance, first shoot down all of the Dears at the bottom, then go up to the middle of the screen and start shooting at his head.
- Unload your missiles whenever you have an open shot on the head for some massive damage.
- Aside from that, try to dodge the boss's beam attacks to activate Witch Time and really lay down the punishment.
- Once you reach the end of this flying segment, watch the next cutscene and get ready for a final showdown against Jeanne.
BOSS - Jeanne
- The final battle against Jeanne is not much different than the previous encounter, with the exception of her ability to take a lot more punishment and the new environmental hazards.
- The first location change will occur when the building you're fighting on collapses, causing Bayonetta and Jeanne to jump to the side of another building.
- Here you'll have to be careful of missiles that periodically fly towards you. If your reflexes are quick enough, you can press Y and B right when you're prompted to and initiate a game of catch with Jeanne. The missile will go back and forth between you and her if you can continue pressing Y and B when prompted to at just the right time. If you throw it back three times, the missile will explode in her face, dealing lots of damage.
- Jeanne also has a new Wicked Weave attack that she may employ here where she summons a giant spider that will jump up and crash down upon you. Try to avoid it by running away as a panther and then dodging right when it crashes down.
- When a cutscene plays, get ready to hold up and press A to jump onto the missile that flies towards you.
- You'll continue the fight on top of the missile until you bring Jeanne down to her green life bar.
- Once another cutscene plays, get ready to hold up and press A again to jump off the missile before it crashed into the building.
- You'll land on another missile and fight against Jeanne once more until another cutscene plays and drops you two off at the final location of this epic battle.
- From here on, it's all a matter of your skill. Apply everything you've learned in the previous battles against Jeanne and you should be able to come out on top. Don't be afraid to burn some health items. We're nearing the end of the game.
- Once Jeanne goes down you'll complete the chapter.
Chapter 15 - A Tower to Truth
- Broken Witch Heart #36: As soon as the chapter begins, turn to the right and run towards the railing. Jump over the gap to the platform across the way and follow the path around to find a chest containing the next BWH.
- Head up the stairs to the left and fight off the Dears that warp in. Once you get rid of all of them, you'll be faced against two Ardors.
- Dodge their sword attacks to activate Witch Time and make dealing with them a much easier and safer experience.
- Head up the stairs once it's clear and continue through the closed automatic doors.
- NOTE: The statues here and in front of the other closed doors contain golden Grace and Glories, the same kinds you fought in chapter 10. Break them at your own risk.
- In the next area you'll have to fight a group of three Braves that warp in one after the other. Kill them fast enough and you'll prevent them from transforming into a Beloved.
- Continue through the next door once you kill the Braves or Beloved and head through the next pair of closed doors.
- This time in this hallway you'll have to fight a pair of Joys. Nothing you haven't seen before.
- Once the barrier is broken, head on through and continue up the stairs to fight against a group of Enchants.
- When you get rid of the Enchants, Grace and Glory will warp in for round two. Kill them and then continue heading up the stairs.
- Run down the hallway and another Temperance will start pounding through the walls. Ignore him and keep on running as far as you can to the end of the hallway.
- Before you can proceed, you'll have to break the next barrier by killing a group of Affinities.
- Continue up the stairs and the Temperance will appear once again. This time you can't ignore him.
- Use the two turrets on the balcony to blast away at Temperance, but be sure to dodge whenever one of his missiles get close. Doing so will not only protect you from getting damaged, but it will also activate witch time, which will make this whole section go faster.
- Once Temperance goes down, so will the barrier to the right.
- Broken Witch Heart #37 After bringing down Temperance, back track all the way back to the beginning of the level where you found the BWH #36. You'll find the next Alfheim portal there.
- Continue forward and break down the small gate covering the door leading to the elevator shaft.
- A cutscene that will show an elevator about to fall down on top of you. Hold right and press A when prompted to avoid it.
- Start running up the wall and you'll be interrupted by Justice.
- He's pretty much the same as he was when you fought him in chapter 11, so use the same tactics to bring him down this time as well. Avoid his tentacles, dodge his head to activate witch time, then run along his neck to be able to cut it off.
- Once you kill justice, keep on running up the wall and jump through the opening at the top.
- Follow the path around to reach an area with a gigantic statue. Continue forward and you'll find a portal for Rodin's shop. It's the last one in this level, so use it if you need it.
- Broken Witch Heart #38: Before jumping up the floating platforms, run to the side opposite of where Rodin's portal is to find a chest containing a BWH.
- Use the floating platforms to jump up to the top level.
- Continue exploring this area if you want to fight a couple of more enemies and find a chest with a Red Hot Shot, but when you're ready you'll need to head over to the giant blue device with the ramp of light and rotate the staff to activate a bunch of platforms.
- Quickly head upwards along the platforms before they disappear. When you reach the larger glowing platforms, you'll be attacked by a group of flaming Affinities.
- Keep on hopping across the platforms and working your way upwards.
- Broken Moon Pearl #16 Towards the top of this section is a balcony with a chest containing the final BMP. Look around for it.
- Broken Witch Heart #39: After getting the final BMP, look around for a series of light platforms leading to another solid platform with a chest containing a BWH.
- Keep on wandering around the top area until you see a balcony with doors along the wall. Drop down onto it to trigger another fight against Golem.
- Golem packs a couple of new transformation this time, but he's still the same easy boss he was before. When he transforms into a snake, just dodge when he sweeps around and shoot at him. When he transforms into a spider, get ready to dodge his fireballs and leaps.
- Once you kill Golem, drop down to the balcony and enter through the doorway.
- Start running up the next wall and Prudence will drop down to fight you.
- Quickly attack the red jewel below Prudence's mouth to knock him back and allow you to avoid getting swallowed up by the incoming flames.
- Prudence's attacks are the same as before. Be sure to avoid getting bitten and stomped on and you'll be fine.
- Once Prudence falls, quickly turn into a panther and run away from the explosion.
- When you drop down onto a ball, look around for cables connection the ball to the ceiling and destroy them.
- The ball will take you to a giant bridge of light, which will lead you to the end of the level.
Chapter 16 - The Lumen Sage
BOSS - Father Baldur
- Hope your reflexes are up to snuff because Baldur's attacks with his sword are lightning fast.
- Like the fights against Jeanne, you need to be aggressive here. Baldur doesn't have that much health or defense per phase, so you don't need to go for the big combos. Just get in two or three hits, then get ready to dodge when he does.
- When he surrounds you with fireballs, dodge them about a half a second after they all appear, then keep on dodging to avoid the rest of them.
- Once you bring down his first life bar, you'll execute a climax attack which won't be enough to kill him. He'll shrug it off like it's nothing and then come back even faster than before.
- During the second phase, he likes to attack by causing eruptions to appear from beneath Bayonetta. Simply run around while in Panther form to avoid getting hit.
- When he raises a building to throw at you, get ready to press Y and B when prompted to kick it right back at him and deal lots of damage.
- When he causes a satellite to fire a giant beam of energy, run to an end of the rock and look for the prompt that tells you to press A to jump.
- Hit him with another Climax to move on to his third and final life bar.
- Once again, he'll come back faster and stronger than before, so be ready for some really fast sword strikes.
- Keep up the attack and especially make sure to succeed whenever Baldur tries to throw something at you. When he drops the satellite, make sure to press Y and B to enter a throwing match much like what you went through with Jeanne.
- Once you bring down his final life bar, you'll have to guide a piece of lipstick fired from Bayonetta's gun past a series of glass shards so that it hits Baldur right between the eyes. Do this, and you'll complete the penultimate chapter of Bayonetta.
Epilogue - Requiem
- When the final chapter begins, you'll actually be in control of Jeanne on her motorcycle since Bayonetta is a bit incapacitated at the moment.
- While you're driving up the rocket, simply continuously mash the X button to fire your guns and move left and right to avoid getting shot by a fireball.
- When the camera moves to focus on Jeanne's back, continue moving slightly left and right, just so you can see when a fireball is right in front of you. When a fireball, or other obstacle comes your way, press RT to slide under it.
- Once you reach the end of the rocket you'll have to press A when prompted to jump from piece to piece to get on the next part and head into space.
- Once you reach the end of that part, hold forward on the left stick and press A when prompted to start making your way up to Jubileus.
- A cutscene will start playing once you reach the end of the motorcycle section.
- Go into panther mode and start running up the rocks until you reach the statue that is Jubileus.
- Broken Witch Heart #40: Run up the statue's hair, but stop just before you reach the end. The end is that little fold that you see near the statue's head. If you go too far, a cutscene will play and you'll lose your chance to get this BWH. When you stop at the top, head all they back down to the metal base of the statue and look for an Alfheim portal. If you don't see it, head back to the top, inch a little bit closer, then go back down.
- Run up the statues hair to the top and you'll trigger a cutscene.
BOSS - Jubileus
- The fight against Jubileus can be an endurance test due to how long it can last, but all things said, it's not that hard.
- The first, and let's call it the main phase, involves Jubileus flying in the air and shooting down parts of her hair.
- Quickly dash towards one of the heads on the hair, dodging the fireballs it shoots along the way, and start wailing on them.
- The heads themselves don't take that much punishment, so a quick combo should do the trick.
- When the camera focuses in on Jubileus and she reaches back, wouldn't you guess it, she's going to start punching. The punches are relatively slow so you should be able to dodge them with ease. Try to get some extra hits on her hand if you can.
- Once you destroy enough heads, Jubileus will change the scenery to a lava filled volcanic interior.
- Run along the pieces of solid land and seek out the heads from before. You'll have to be careful to dodge lots of lava streams and fireballs along the way, so be careful.
- Once you destroy the heads, you'll be given a chance to jump from rock to rock and make your way to Jubileus's main head.
- Start attacking the head once you reach it and you'll stun the boss as it falls to the floor.
- Hit it with a Y Y Y Y B (B B B B) combo while it's stunned to deal some heavy damage.
- Next Jubileus will turn the stage into a icy wasteland. This is actually easier than the lava filled section. Just focus on seeking out those heads and avoid the ice balls that they send your way.
- Repeat what you did before and attack the main head, then attack the stunned Jubileus, and the boss will change the stage once again. This time the battlegrounds will be suspended high in the air in a lightning field.
- Jump from rock to rock as you search out the heads, but be ready to dodge the lightning bolts whenever the ground under you starts to glow.
- Once the heads are gone, you'll be able to attack the main head of Jubileus, stun her, deal some damage, and then you'll return to the main phase.
