Battlefield Bad Company Online Rank Cheat

  • Several days after the Bad Company demo was released, players discovered a way to cheat the online ranking system. The online ranking system works off of experience points (EXP). Players receive a certain amount of EXP for performing actions like killing enemy players, getting head-shots, or repairing vehicles. To exploit the EXP system, all that is needed is two players, a vehicle (usually a hummer), and a rock. The cheating player must use the support class because it is the only class that allows players to repair vehicles. He cannot flip the vehicle over because players only get EXP from repairing vehicles that some one else damaged. The player drives the hummer over a rock, flipping it. The vehicle will lose health until eventually it reaches 0% and explodes. The cheating player must constantly repair the vehicle. Because the vehicle is always losing health, but not fast enough to explode while being repaired, the cheating player can repair it for as long as the game goes on, giving him a steady stream of over 500 EXP per minute.

People playing legitimately usually receive between 50 and 1,000 EXP per game, but players cheating can earn upwards of 30,000 EXP. The highest online rank reachable in Bad Company is 25. To reach level 25, a player needs 37,000 EXP, so a cheater could conceivably reach level 25 in two games.

There are currently no consequences being dished out by Electronic Arts, the game's developer, for cheating online, however other players in the game tend to be extremely perturbed by cheaters and will often kill them even if they are on the same team.
