Battlefield 1943 Walkthrough - Conquest Mode
The goal of Battlefield 1943 Conquest Mode is to kill as many enemies as possible and take control of their Capture Points. This gradually wipes out their Reinforcement Points meter. Capture Points are indicated by flag icons on both your HUD and mini-map. If no enemies are in view, begin the capture process as you near a Capture Point. The timer at the top of your screen lets you know how much time is left until you can declare the territory as yours. If the Capture Point is not under enemy control, this is a matter of seconds. If it is, it takes longer to capture. The flag hanging on the pole indicates who currently is in control.
Two meters at the top of the screen indicate the number of Reinforcement Points earned by each team. Your team is always indicated in blue. Your enemy's points are indicated in Red. The more control points earned, the faster the Reinforcement Point meter will climb. Each kill also represents a loss of a point on your enemy's meter.
Battlefield 1943 Walkthrough - Wake Island
Wake Island was taken by the Imperial Japanese Navy in 1941 and stayed under Japanese control through the end of the war in 1945. The island is shaped like a horseshoe, and is set up primarily for open-air fighting. There are some concealed locations that can be used for sniping. Be sure you are comfortable with all of the flying skills taught in the tutorial before heading to Wake Island.
The Wake Island map is symmetrical, and focused on one capture point: the air strip. Most of the fighting will be around the air strip and the adjacent air raid bunker. A tank spawn point as well as an extra plane and landing strip can be found near the air strip.
The carrier starting point off the coast contains two airplanes and four boats. Each boat also houses two anti-aircraft guns. These guns are primarily used to take out attacking planes. Fly over the carrier to replenish your health. Use the two jeeps located on the island near the carrier area to get to the closest flags.
In Conquest mode, Wake Island has five flags:
- Signal Station: Close to the USMC carrier, the Signal Station spawns both a car and tank when captured. Take advantage of the nearby sniping tower to take out enemies. Be aware that your enemies have a sniping tower of their own, so keep your head down. Use the area's buildings for cover while you capture the point. Alternative, you can take control of the enemy tank to sit in relative safety.
- Beach: The Beach has an indestructible bunker and islands nearby that are great for sniping points. The lowest lying area of the game, you are easily a sniper target here. It is best to keep your head down. The Beach is easily defended, and the best locale to spawn and rush the Airfield.
- Airfield: Capture the Airfield as early in the game as possible. Fly over with a plane to parachute down. Continue to defend it. Capture the tank that spawns near the flag. There is an extra plane on the landing strip near the big hangar. The little white building near the hangar is an air raid bunker. If you can maintain control of the Airfield, that will give you a large supply of planes, cars and tanks to use throughout the remainder of the island. Stick around to defend this map, and it will serve you well.
- AA Village: AA Village hosts two exposed anti-aircraft guns that are very exposed and not worth using. Camp out at the indestructible bunker. Litter the area with C4 mines to take out the cars and tanks en route from the Airfield. Take out every building to avoid having to recapture the AA Village later.
- Village: Close to the IJN carrier, the Village has the same assets as the Signal Station with a tank, jeep, sniper tower, AA gun, and buildings. Use a plane or grenade rounds to bomb the bridge between the Village and the AA Village to force tanks and jeeps around it.
Battlefield 1943 Walkthrough - Guadalcanal
Guadalcanal, the only map without naval combat or carriers, is located on a hilly Solomon island northeast of Australia. The island primarily saw action between August of 1942 and February of 1943. Its capture from the Japanese was considered to be a significant turning point in World War II. Bases cannot be captured, so do not venture into enemy camp with this in mind. Each base features two jeeps, airplanes and tanks. Snipers are common on the hilly island, so keep your head down and keep moving. Because of the hills, vehicles have a tough time navigating around so be sure to use your radar to avoid getting stuck. Vehicles are also susceptible to attack from grenades, expacks, and rocket fire. Head up the less traveled paths to higher vantage points to take out the outposts. There is also an extra airplane near the village.
In Conquest Mode, Guadalcanal has five flags:
- Fuel Dump: The nearest capture point to the Allied Base, the Fuel Dump is in an almost constant fight with the Ridge. It houses a 40mm Bofors anti-air gun that is useful for taking out enemy aircraft. Beware of being sniped when using this AA cannon. When under USMC control, it spawns a Willys MB. Under IJN control, it spawns a Type 95 Kurogane. The base also houses two fuel tanks, and spawns a car. Use the tank to mow down the trees near the indestructible building, a good spot to use for sniping the Village.
- Radio Bunker: Nearest to the IJN Base, the Radio Bunker also houses 49mm Bofors anti-air gun. When under USMC control, it spawns a Willys MB and, when under IJN control, it spawns a Type 95 Kurogane. The Radio Bunker is less exposed to the Ridge than the Fuel Dump, and its hills are used for cross-map sniping.
- Village: Located near the Ridge on the southeast side of the map, the Village houses both the island's extra air strip near the water and a tank spawn point. It contains a small cluster of buildings and two steel guard towers, and is completely surrounded by the forest. The small platform location that spawns the tank will automatically repair it when you park there, making it a good spot to set up your defense. Take the tank to the Ridge, capture it, and retreat to recharge it in the Village. Under USMC control, the area spawns a M4A1 Sherman tank as well as a Vought F4U Corsair. Under IJN control, the Village spawns a Type 97 Chi-Ha and a Mitsubishi A6M Zero.
- Outpost: The Outpost houses an isolated flag that allows access to the Air Raid Bunker, as well as a sandbag formation and two concrete guard tower. Near the water, the Air Raid Bunker is identified as a small white building with a radio antenna on the roof. This spot is a good target in addition to the Ridge. Watch the hills overhead for snipers -- both with sniper rifles and grenade launchers. The Outpost is easily captured with the assistance from one or two tanks. Under USMC control, the Outpost spawns an M4A1 Sherman tank and a Willys MB. Under IJN control, the Outpost spawns a Type 97 Chi-Ha and a Type 95 Kurogane.
- Ridge: Located on a mountain top between the Outpost and the Village in the centermost spot on the map, this area is host to intense fighting. No vehicles spawn at the ridge, but the area is popular due to its location and the almost constant spawning of enemy infantry. The Ridge houses a concrete guard tower and an arrangement of sandbags. Control of the Ridge flag enables easy access to all of the other area flags. Its approach is steep, so use a tank to approach rather than a light vehicle. Hit the indestructible building with a grenade from a distance before approaching.
