The fourth Battlefield 1943 Pacific location, Coral Sea, was unlocked with Air Superiority game mode after players collectively reached 43 million kills on the game's first three maps: Wake Island, Guadalcanal, and Iwo Jima. Air Superiority game mode consists strictly of online multi-player aerial deathmatch dogfight battles. There are no Capture Points. There is instead, a large capture zone in the map's center. Enemy pilots will need to be completely removed from the area to control it. The team that controls this capture zone will continue to deplete the opposing team's reinforcement points. Players will need to have excellent piloting skills to succeed. For quick plane repairs, fly over your aircraft carrier length-wise at a slow speed.

Battlefield 1943 Air Superiority Tips
- Remember that ponts are earned and lost when your team has control of the Capture Point. If your team has lost control of the Capture Point, or if no one has control of it, don't stray far from the middle.
- Take your time. Speed is not of the essence, as it diminishes accuracy as well as the ability to make quick turns.
- Ease off of the throttle when turning.
- First person view is difficult to adjust to, but improves accuracy. Practice switching from third person to first person in Air Superiority mode. You will be amazed at the difference.
- Pick your battles. Fly slowly along the outer edge and take your time to select your target carefully from one of the guys racing through the middle. A A good rule of thumb is to follow the last plane within a group.
- Aim a few feet in front of where the enemy plane is flying. Otherwise bullets lose speed and will go past where you are aiming if you shoot directly at the plaine. If you aim just in front of your target, the enemy plane will fly directly into the bullet.
- Fire in short bursts.
