The game begins with Joker welcoming Batman to his asylum shortly after their arrival on Arkham Island. Batman has no idea that he will be facing Gotham City's most deranged lunatics outside the sanctuary of the prison walls before the night is over. Aside from the Joker, the game includes some of Batman's biggest enemies: Scarecrow, Poison Ivy and Killer Croc to name a few. On top of them, the Riddler is sending non-stop nonsense through Batman's earpiece. Little does Joker know that Batman constructed a secret cave on Akham Asylum many years ago. The island's secret Bat Cave is stocked with every bit of lab and computer equipment Batman could ever need in the event of some kind of bizarre emergency, as well as a collection of useful gadgetry.

1. Meet Warden Sharp and the other security personnel at the gate, with the Joker in tow. The Joker is immediately strapped to a handcart.
2. Walk with the guards to wheel the Joker from the Intensive Treatment Lobby through the Cell Block Transfer area.
3. Take the elevator down to the Holding Cells.
4. NOTE: Batman is prevented from accompanying the group further into the asylum at the risk of inciting a riot amongst its inmates. Batman watches as the Joker breaks free of his restraints and escapes with the help of an unknown accomplice.
5. Batman then breaks through the security glass.
6. The accomplice then deactivates the cells' electronic gates, prompting Batman's first fight which serves more or less as a tutorial.
7. Press the Strike Button to have Batman punch and kick inmates.
8. Press the Counter Button while fighting the second batch of enemies.
9. TIP: Wavy lines above an enemy's head indicate an oncoming attack.
10. Pressing the Counter Button while simultaneously pushing the movement controls in the direction of the enemy inflict a counter attack.
11. Head up the hallway to the Processing Corridor after the fight.
12. NOTE: The Riddler has left 240 riddles throughout the Arkham Asylum grounds. These range from Riddler Trophies, Audio Tapes, Spritis of Arkham, and Joker Teeth.
13. Use Aim Mode to destroy the five Joker Teeth with some Batarang throws and unlock the first Combat Challenge.

14. Proceed down the hallway to the two inmates near the intersection.
15. Take care of the inmates.
16. Head to the left and approach the locked door.
17. Talk to Eddie Burlow.
18. Continue down the hallway to the right.
19. Radio Oracle and provide her with an update
20. Enter the Patient Pacification Chamber.
21. Make your way to the security gate.
22. Speak to Zach Franklin.
23. NOTE: Zsasz, a prisoner, captured Mike, a guard, and is holding him in the electric chair. He is threatening to execute him if anyone approaches.
24. Proceed up the stairs to the balcony.
25. Speak with the guards and tell them to distract Zsasz.
26. Activate Detective Mode.
27. Locate the gargoyles near the ceiling.
28. Press the Grapple Button to get the first gargoyle.
29. Swing across the other two gargoyles and get behind Zsasz.
30. Face Zsasz and hold the Strike Button to knock him down with a Glide Kick.
31. Simultaneously press the Crouch and Counter Buttons to follow the Glide Kick up with a Ground Takedown to finish Zsasz off and unlock the Shocking Rescue Bonus.
32. NOTE: Harley Quinn broadcasts on the asylum monitor an image of a bound and gagged Warden Sharp. She also informs Batman that communication has been cut off from Gotham City.
33. Tear the two vent grates from the walls.
34. Grab the Riddler Trophy that was behind one of the grates.
35. Crawl up the sloped ductwork that was behind the other grate.
36. Proceed through the vent system until you locate the next Riddler's Trophy.
37. Kick out the grate on the right.
38. Hop down in the Decontamination room where some canisters of the very poisonous green Joker Toxin have been released.

39. Smash the Joker Teeth.
40. Follow Eddie Burlow to the window.
41. Grapple your way to the ledge over Eddie Burlow.
42. TIP: Just press the Grapple Button if Batman happens to fall into the toxin.
43. Kick out the grate.
44. Pull one of the guards out.
45. Run to the ledge.
46. Jump across to the next platform.
47. Grapple up a platform.
48. Rescue another guard.
49. Juimp and glide to the next platform.
50. Pick up the Blackgate inmate hanging on the side of the ledge to earn the Leave No Man Behind Bonus.
51. Turn on Detective Mode.
52. Head into the office.
53. Find the Extractor Control Point.
54. Throw a Batarang at the control panel to turn on the fans and clear out the toxin.
55. Return to the Decontamination Area.
56. Take out the three Joker Teeth.
57. Proceed to the center of the room.
58. Find the Riddler Trophy under the floor grate.
59. Walk south to the Transfer Loop.
60. Follow the green arrows on the floor.
61. Continue past the Joker Teeth and Blackgate inmates to the Secure Treatment Transfer area.
62. TIP: These Joker Teeth should give you enough XP for the first WayneTech upgrade. It is best to select Armor Upgrade VI.
63. Meet up with the Venom Henchman in the Secure Treatment Transfer area.
64. Stand far back from the henchman.
65. Aim several well-placed Batarangs at its face while he charges at you.
66. Double-tap the Run Button to dodge its path.
67. Throw three series of Batarangs at the henchman followed by short combinations of punch and kick attacks while it is still dazed from the wall.
68. After three series of attacks, the Venom Henchman is defeated and you secure the Malpractice Needs More Practice Bonus.
69. Collect another Riddler Trophy from the empty guard booth.
70. Talk to the guard in the other booth.
71. NOTE: The Joker sends a message through the monitor that he has captured Commissioner Gordon.
72. Return to the Transfer Loop.
73. Proceed west to the south entrance.
74. Make your way to the Holding Cells area.
75. Turn on Detective Mode to see if you can find any clues.
76. Analyze Boles' bourbon flask and follow the whiskey breath trail to see if you can figure out the direction they went.
77. With Detective Nide on, follow the clouds of whiskey breath to the south.
78. Head through the Transfer Loop to Secure Transit.
79. Rescue the guard before the elevator crushes him.
80. Talk to Henry (the guard).
81. Use the grapnel gun to travel the elevator shafts to the top of the Secure Transit area.
82. As you make your way up, crawl under a fence to get to a tiny passage. This leads to the first Chronicle of Arkham.
83. Grapple into a hanging position on the final ledge.
84. Scout the surroundings.
85. Throw the Batarang and follow up with a series of kicks and punches to take out the five Blackgate prisoners at the top of the Secure Transit area.
86. Press the Counter Button to relieve the prisoners of any melee weaponry.
87. Finish off each prisoner with a Ground Takedown.
88. Destroy any Joker Teeth in the area.
89. Proceed through the vent system.
90. Continue to the Cell Block Transfer area.
91. Exit the vent system.
92. Stay close to the wall.
93. Radio Oracle to alter Detective Mode to have enemies with firearms display in red.
94. Activate Detective Mode.
95. Locate the four armed enemies: three of them are around the corner on the floor and one upstairs in the surveillance room to the south.
96. Grapple your way behind the enemies, using the gargoyles overhead.
97. Rap the RUn Button to drop onto the floor.
98. Press and hold the Crouch Button to sneak up on the enemy.
99. Press the Counter Button to do a Silent Takedown.
100. Repeat this process for each of the three enemies.
101. Sneak up on the fourth enemy and quickly take him out with a Silent Takedown.
102. Exit the surveillance office through the vent system.
103. Head to the Intensive Treatment Lobby.
104. Sneak up behind the three enemies on patrol in the lobby.
105. Do a Silent Takedown on the first one.
106. Grapple to the roof.
107. Stand above the glass ceiling.
108. Stay in Detective Mode.
109. Wait for one of the enemies to pass under you.
110. Press the Counter Button to drop through the ceiling and do a takedown.
111. Wait for the third enemy and repeat the Silent Takedown.
112. When these three are disposed of, a second wave will enter from the south.
113. Watch them from the top of the office.
114. Take down the first one as soon as he leaves the others with a Glide Kick and finish him off with a Ground Takedown.
115. Grapple to the closest gargoyle to avoid being seen.
116. Stay in the shadows and wait for the other two to split up.
117. Repeat the Glide Kick-Ground Takedown combination.
118. Climb the ladder to the walkway.
119. Destroy the last three Joker Teeth.
120. Read the Joker's message on Frank Boles' corpse.
121. NOTE: Batman also receives his first riddle to solve from the Riddler: Don't cut yourself on this sharply observed portrait. Solving riddles earns alot of XP as well as unlocking character information and trophies.
122. Return to the edge of the raised area by the ladder.
123. Look to the left. There is a framed picture of the warden.
124. Activate Detective Mode.
125. Scan the portrait to solve the riddle.
126. One of the guards unlocks the Utility Corridor door once the riddle is solved.
127. Take Harley Quinn's interview tape from the center office desk.
128. Go through the office to the east side of the room.
129. Another riddle is presented: A puzzle has many sides, but only some are visible.
130. Return to the center of the Intensive Treatment Lobby.
131. Go into the office.
132. Activate Detective Mode.
133. Study the windows on the south side of the office.
134. Locate the upper portion of the querstion mark on the window.
135. Line up the question mark on the window with the dot on the wall under the vents.
136. Press and hold the Detective Mode Button to solve.
137. Continue through the Utility Corridor door.
138. Proceed through the narrow passage to the locker room for another riddle: You don't know Jack about Gotham. Tune in to find out.
139. Follow the sounds of the radio placed on the bench.
140. Zoom in on the radio dial.
141. Find DJ Jack Ryder's name.
142. Hold Detective Mode button to solve.
143. Make your way to the door on the north side of the room.
144. Open the door into the storage closet.
145. Head into the vent duct.
146. Follow the ductwork to the eastern part of the island surface.
147. Jump down the cliffs.
148. Head toward the security guards near the arch.
149. Stand on top of the cliff overlooking the mansion for the Born Free bonus.

1. Begin on the cliff where you ended the first chapter, overlooking the rear entrance to the building in Arkham Island East.
2. Watch out for the pairs of guards positioned throughout the entire area protecting the Botanical Gardens, the Intensive Treatment Facility and the entrance to Arkham Mansion.
3. Glide down to the ground below.
4. Take the Riddler Trophy from the viewpoint near the cliffs on the right.
5. Make your way to the guard shack and talk to Louie Green.
6. Proceed towards the Botannical Gardens.
7. Head southeast of the Garden entrance to the cemetery entrance.
8. Locate the Amadeus Arkham headstone

9. Scan the headstone and solve the riddle.
10. Pick up the two Riddler Trophies in the cemetery.
11. Continue to the watchtower for another Riddler Trophy.
12. Head into the other watchtower.
13. Collect the Interview Tape from the desk.
14. NOTE: There are five Riddler Trophies, an Interview Tape and a Chronicle of Arkham located between the Intensive Treatment facility and the northern gate.
15. Take the tunnel path leading to Arkham Island North to protect the Batmobile.
16. Take note of the guards near the ambulance and the two armed guards on the other side of the gate behind the ambulance.
17. Grapple up to the ledge above the gate.
18. Climb down behind the gunment and drop down behind them.
19. Crouch down.
20. Sneak up behind them.
21. Do Silent Takedowns on both guards.
22. Leave the tunnel.
23. Run straight ahead towards the enemies working over the Batmobile.

24. Throw the Batarang at the nearest one.
25. Punch, kick and counterattack the enemies until they are taken out and have relinquished their weapons.
26. Open the trunk of the Batmobile.
27. Get the Explosive Gel out of the trunk.
28. Activate Detective Mode.
29. Target the walls and flooring sections that are structurally unsound.
30. Use the Explosive Gel to blast those sections apart.
31. Use Explosive Gel to enter the security booth through the roof.
32. Locate the Secrets Map in the booth.

33. In Detective Mode, scan the outline of the Batmobile to find Commissioner Gordon's tobacco pipe.
34. Search both watchtowers and the building shell northwest of the Batmobile for Riddler's Challenges.
35. Head north past the watchtowers.
36. Find the gate that marks the entrance to Arkham Asylum.
37. Activate Detective Mode.
38. Scan the child's see-saw to the right to solve the riddle.
39. Proceed west to the crumbling building.
40. Continue to the stone archway behind the tree.
41. Study the archway.
42. Activate Detective Mode.
43. Spot the top half of the question makr.
44. Line it up with the dot painted on the ceiling inside the building to complete the question mark.
45. Scan the question mark to solve the riddle.
46. Follow the trail of pipe tobacco scattered on the ground to the sign to Arkham Island West.
47. Use Explosive Gel to blast through the weakened wall to the right of the heavy door.
48. Go through the tunnel to Arkham Island West.
49. Exit through the other door.
50. Continue to follow the trail of tobacco down the slope.
51. Proceed to the Medical Facility Building.
52. Grapple to the ledge above the door.
53. Locate the Riddler Trophy.
54. Glide kick the enemy painting the wall ahead ofyou.
55. Collect the Riddler Trophies from the stream near the entrance, under the watchtower and on the roof of the boathouse.
56. Proceed into the boathouse.
57. Get the Interview Tape.
58. Continue to the base of the Penitentiary and look behind the destructible wall for the Chronicle of Arkham.
59. TIP: When you are eligible for your next upgrade, select either the Twin Batarangs.
60. Take the stairs up to the top landing in front of the Penitentiary.
61. Activate Detective Mode.
62. Peak over the railing.
63. Find the top half of the large question mark on the lower level.
64. Locate the bottom dot of the question mark on the fence post.
65. Align both parts of the question mark.
66. Continue following the tobacco trail.
67. Go up the stairs.
