  • NHL Career

    Battaglia was drafted 132nd overall in the 1994 NHL draft by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. He did not join the NHL immediately and played for Lake Superior State University for three seasons after the draft. On March 18, 1997, Battaglia was traded to the Hartford Whalers. He relocated with the franchise that summer as they became the Carolina Hurricanes and made his NHL debut with the team in the 1997-98 season. He continued with the Hurricanes until March 11, 2003, when he was sent to the Colorado Avalanche. He played just 17 games in Colorado before he was sent to the Washington Capitals on October 22, 2003. He played in the East Coast Hockey League for the Mississippi Sea Wolves during the 2004-05 NHL lockout, then signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs franchise on October 2, 2005. He spent his next year with the Leafs American Hockey League affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. He joined the Maple Leafs in 2006 and split the following two seasons between the Leafs and the Marlies.
