Holiday History
The storming of the Bastille was a revolutionary movement to free a host of political prisoners held captive by Louis XVI of France. Global Gourmet: Global Destinations: Bastille Day In 1790, France celebrated "The Feast of the Federations" in honor of the first anniversary of the insurrection, but over time the July 14th commemoration was forgotten.
