Player 2009-10 season
After signing his big contract in the offseason, Scott came in and immediately was revered by teammates. He became a vocal leader on this team the minute the ink dried on the paper of his contract. Scott and ILB David Harris combined to form arguably the most fearsome inside linebacker combination in the sport as they anchored the #1 defense in the NFL. Scott, along with S Jim Leonhard helped ease the transition in learning Rex Ryan's defense for the rest of the players since he played in it for six years in Baltimore.
Scott often called the plays for the defense, as he and Harris along with Leonhard shared these duties. Scott was often called upon to do the less glamorous, dirty work that doesn't show up in the box scores so his numbers didn't really give a fair indication as to his overall value of the team. Despite this Scott still managed to put up 93 tackles and a sack in 16 games started.
