Barry Lyndon is a period drama based on the novel The Luck of Barry Lyndon by William Makepeace Thackeray. The 1975 film is situated in eighteenth-century Ireland. A young Irish farm boy named Redmond Barry falls in love with his cousin and soon after kills British Captain John Quin in a duel. To avoid imprisonment, he escapes his home and sets off on a series of erotic and violent adventures.
