The Barrie Colts are a hockey team that plays in the Ontario Hockey League in Canada. The Colts consists of junior hockey players, and are a stepping stone for players looking to make a move to the National Hockey League in the future. Barrie was founded in the 1970s, but did not move up to major junior status until the 1993-94 hockey season. Barrie has just one championship under its belt since joining the OHL. That title came during the 1999-2000 season, when they won the J. Ross Robertson Cup. 2009-10 Season
The Barrie Colts finished the 2009-10 OHL regular season with the best record in the league, going 57-9-0-2. In the second round, the Colts once again won in four straight games, defeating the Brampton Battalion. Barrie finally lost one game in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. However, they would win four other to defeat the Majors and advance to the finals. Luke Pither and Alex Hutchings were the Colts' top two scorers in the 2009-10 season. Pither had 37 goals and 58 assists to finish the year with a team-leading 94 points. Huthcings led the team in number of goals scored with 47 goals and added 34 assists to total up 84 points for the season. Peter Di Salvo was the team's starting goaltender, finishing the season with a record of 38-6-1. Big Brawl: Barrie vs. Oshawa
In a game between the Oshawa Generals and Barrie Colts in 1999, a huge brawl broke out with the Colts leading the Generals 3-0 late in the third period. A number of fights developed on the ice and eventually the tension spilled onto the benches. Players began dueling and throwing sticks across the benches at each other.
