Barolo is a section of the Piedmont area in Italy. Barolo came about in the 1800s when the Marchesa Giulietta Colbert Falletti started making wine out of Nebbiolo grapes. http://www.wineintro.com/types/barolo.html
To the proponents of Italian classic wine making, Barolo should always be made the same way: produced from the native Nebbiolo - a thin-skinned red wine grape, which is rather acidic and tannic - then generally aged for a long while in large Slovenian casks called "botti."http://www.foodandwine.com/
There was a good run of superb Barolo vintages from 1995 through 2000. As a result, Italy's noblest red wine (and one of the world's finest drinks) is enjoying unprecedented prestige.http://www.thewinenews.com/octnov02/cover.html
Barolo Vineyards
The panoramic and picturesque footage in this video was shot in 2001 in Castiglione Faletto in Northern Italy, in the Piedmont area. Castiglione is Italian for castle, and this small castle and its village are surrounded by vineyards of the famous red wine, Barolo. The grapes being grown are the Nebbiolo wine grape, which is used to make the robust Barolo.
