Barenaked Ladies are a humorous and irreverent Alternative Rock band from Toronto, Canada founded by childhood friends Ed Robertson and Steven Page. While the band had some early success with their first few albums in Canada, the Ladies finally broke through to mainstream success with their hit song "One Week" off their 1998 album Stunt. Since leaving Reprise Records in 2003, the band has independently released four more albums.

In February 2009, an announced was made via the band's official web site that lead singer Steven Page was leaving the band. The announcement said Page's decision to leave was mutually agreed upon, and the remaining members plan to continue without him. In 2008, Page, his girlfriend Christine Benedicto, and her roommate were charged with cocaine possession. On January 12, 2009, collegehumor.com posted and original video parodying the Barenaked Ladies song "One Week." The parody centers on the the song's infectious melody, and nonsensical lyrics and subject matter. As of January 22, 2009, the video on had received over 160,000 views on YouTube.
